After what had almost happened, Bekah had become more scared than she ever was. She was clinging even more to JJ. If that was at all possible. Rebekah should have been used to feeling this way. Really, she should. But a guy had never hurt her before, let alone wanted her dead. Bekah was only eleven. She did not know how to deal with any of this. All the girl wanted was JJ to come back home. She wanted him. She needed him. She was scared. What if he came back for her again? What if he succeeded this time? JJ lectured her about going off with strangers. She felt bad about what she had done and she started crying. She knew she was in trouble. And she did not want to be. "I'm sowwy." she had whimpered out through her tears. "Don't be mad at me." she had begged him. She did not want JJ to be mad at her. When her mother was mad at her, bad things happened. She did not want to go through all of that again. That had happened not that long ago. And now Rebekah would not leave the house without JJ. She would not go to school unless it was JJ that took her. And now she was afraid to leave school grounds unless it was him who came to pick her up. Not after what happened before. Ever since that night, the child had been scary quiet. She would talk to JJ or ask him something. But when it came to the others in the house, she would completely clam up. Maybe it was just because of what had almost happened to her, though. It was about 6 in the evening. It was a Saturday. Peeking her head out and looking up and down the hall, the eleven year old made her way out of her bedroom and down the hall. She looked around and wondered if JJ was home yet. She hated him not being here. She walked over to his door and opened it carefully. "Hello?" she whispered. But no one was in there. Sighing, she closed the door again and leaned against the wall.

It was like his family all over again. Their new mother was gone. Ok so not gone exactly. In the hospital. Still. Mr. John only paid attention to JJ, Ian, and Jenna. And the new babies. Once more, he found himself without a parent. There was a difference though. He was actually older than a lot of the kids here. It gave him a sense of protectiveness. Connor, Courtney, Jenna, Cassie, Shanna, Rebekah-he was like their big brother now. And he definitely took it seriously. When Rebekah went missing, he had punched a kid who said a rude remark when they found her. He had growled at him to keep his mouth shut. Kris had never punched anyone before. And to be honest, he kind of hurt his hand. But it felt good, too. He had slept outside her door every night since. And when JJ took Bekah to school each morning, Kris insisted on going with them. Now it was Saturday, and JJ had detention and a date afterwards. And when asked who would watch the eleven year old, Kristofer immediately volunteered.
He had been in the kitchen, a place the sixteen year old had not ventured as of yet. Larisa was the one who did all the cooking and since being in hospital, the kids had mainly been living off of leftovers and take out. But Rebekah deserved a home cooked meal. So, for the past hour, he had been rummaging through the cook books. When he heard Rebekah's voice, he looked up. ''Nobody's here but me, Kris.'' He called it out, remembering to add his name so she wouldn't think he was an intruder. ''I'm making dinner. Hopefully it won't burn.'' he added as he went to the bottom of the stairs. ''I've never cooked before. But I wanted to do it. For you. Wanna come down? The doors are locked. You're safe.''
