"Did he just call her a blow up doll?" a voice nearby Natasha got her attention. Looking over, she watched the adults as they fought, and as, eventually, a cup of coffee was spilled on the woman. Natasha was confused, since she had never seen them before. "Who is that?"
Alan looked over at her. "That would be our new media immersion and journalism teacher, Mr. Maxwell," he explained to her.
"You mean this is his first day?" she asked, looking at the younger boy.
"Yup. And apparently the coffee doesn't taste too good today."
"Well...someone should do something!"
"Why? I'm sure Mrs. Stone already knows"
"But he needs to be welcomed! You know what--never mind. I'll do it myself. I had Emma for homeroom. It'll give me plenty of time. I just need some crepe paper, some glitter, and a pink poster board and some markers."
He looked at her. "When do you plan on getting all that?" he questioned.
"Right now" she said, heading down the hall past the feuding adults.
Alan blinked. Really? Natasha Simpson was skipping? He couldn't believe it. He'd cover for her, though, if she needed him to. Natasha didn't deserve to be in trouble. She was too sweet.
But Natasha Simpson had no intention of getting in trouble. In fact, she didn't plan to leave at all. She had everything she needed, right in her locker. And as she opened the pink-clad locker door, she filled her arms with everything she could need, even taking an apple out of her lunch. Closing it, she made her way to the classroom, wanting to get there before the new teacher did.
She ducked inside the room, turning off the light and closing and locking the door. She figured a brand new teacher might not have a key to the classroom. And really, she only had about ten minutes to finish.
The first thing she did was tape hot pink crepe paper along the perimeter of the teacher's desk. Once that was done, she opened up a bottle of gold glitter and decorated the paper, as well as the top of the desk and the chair itself, with it. With that finished, she got a purple marker and wrote WELCOME MR. MAXWELL!, drawing flowers in the corners of the pink poster board before pulling out her perfume and scenting it. She stood it up against the whiteboard, resting it in the grooves meant to hold markers. Finally, she got the apple, tied a hot pink ribbon around it, and rested it on a napkin on the desk.
There. She was finally finished. Natasha looked at her watch, and she was getting done just in time. Satisfied, Natasha turned the light back on, unlocked the door and opened it, and sat down in her usual chair, making sure there wasn't a single wrinkle in her pink, sparkly dress. She pulled a hairbrush out, deciding to touch up on her hair, and finally her makeup. She wasn't paying much attention to the other kids who came in the room. She simply kept an eye out for the teacher.

So, Danny's first day hadn't started off the way he hoped it might. It didn't help that his ex felt the need to show up and throw her questions at students and invade a place that he really rather could stay a Maggie-free-zone. So much for a fresh start, huh? Well, it was a new start, but not on the right foot. He couldn't help what happened, however. As far as he was concerned, she deserved what happened, but it just wasn't the most professional decision that he ever made. And it wasn't that he stayed rigid and professional all of the time. There were some teachers that took that far too seriously, whereas his approach was a little more relaxed. He was relieved that nothing too detrimental happened in regard to the coffee incident. He would be watching over detention for a while, which he figured was fair enough for the scene he caused. No one liked detention duty, but he could deal with it. It didn't help that he also made an impression on students, but even that he wasn't too worried about. Impressions of teachers were always bound to change anyway.
Danny made his way into his classroom; he'd already been there a few times now, since he really hadn't just gotten the job and showed up one day. He had a lot of work to do leading up to his first class and today, he had to face that class. By now, a new cup of coffee replaced the wasted one on Maggie and he stepped into the room, only to be startled by the bright pink and sparkly decorations covering his desk and the poster board on the whiteboard. Okay, so Danny had seen a lot, but this was something that hadn't happened just yet and he stood there, kind of stunned. He didn't think he'd seen that much pink, at least not since before Tara was born and upon finding out she was a girl, he unconsciously filled a shopping cart with every bright pink item he could find; until he realized how even for a baby that was overkill and started to replace things with neutral colors too. He stepped closer and glanced over to the girl up front. The sparkly pink dress gave away who the culprit was, really. "Did you do this?" He asked, still surprised, really.

"Did you do this?"
Natasha slowly looked up. "I--" she looked at his desk and the board. What was wrong with it? She really didn't understand his line of questioning. Didn't he like it? Natasha would have thought that everyone would have liked a warm, bright welcome. And that's what he got-- a warm, bright pink welcome. So, what was the problem?
"I--" tears smarted in her eyes. She was just trying to be nice! Normally, Natasha wouldn'ty be so quick to assume that he didn't like it. But, her heart had been broken. And when Natasha was hurting, she tended to get really self-conscious about herseklf and the things she did and said. "I'm sorry," she finally squeaked out. She didn't want to be in trouble!
