Backpack in hand, Matt left home before anyone was even awake. He didn't feel like talking, and he didn't think anyone would even notice. Matt was starting to feel ignored. In his mind, he was only noticed when he was in trouble. And it left him depressed.

As the morning progressed, Matt didn't even feel like being here. Aidan wasn't even in school anymore, and Hannah was missing. lucky her he thought at least she's missed. Honestly, Matt wasn't so sure that he would be missed if he were to go missing.

As always, Matt was placed in a position in field hockey where he wasn't part of the game, really. How fitting. He wasn't part of the game at home, either.

Matt looked at the P.E coach. His back was facing Matt. He looked at the back fence, that ended just a few feet short, so there was a small gap between that and the rest of the fence.

Now, Matt was never one to skip. He might be a loner, but he liked to keep his GPA up to at least a 3.6. It made him feel normal and not so much what he really was--adopted. Today, though, he set his equipment down and slipped out. If he was seen or followed, Matt never knew it.

Megan may not have exactly been ignored at home, but she felt depressed enough. She just never told anyon, other than Aidan really, the truth. How could she? It was putting her entire family in danger. Okay, so maybe nothing bad would happen. Maybe Megan was just being paranoid.

Megan had a note to go to the restroom during her English class. However, she really didn't need to go. She just wanted to walk around, to think about some things. No one even knew how scared she was, or the nightmares that she hadn't even had for three years.

But as she walked onto the school grounds, Megan looked up from the ground, noticing someone familiar sneaking away. Was that Matt? Was he actually skipping? Well, since Megan didn't really feel like being here anyway, she decided to follow. So, she walked not to far behind, but didn't say anything quite yet. Megan was curious in where the boy was going to.

Matt stared right at the ground as he walked, putting the school further and further behind. He walked in silence for a good twenty minutes, when he looked up. He blinked back his surprise when he realized where he was.

His subconscious must have been wanting to be here. Because there was no way in hell Matt would purposely make his way towards his dad's hotel. Biting his lip, he went into the lobby. Since he was here, he might as well see him.

Megan was slightly confused when he wound up at some hotel. Why was he here for? Megan wasn't about to say anything just yet. She didn't want Matt to be mad at her for following, but she was curious about what was in there. So, silently, Megan followed Matt inside the hotel, trying not to be seen.

Matt shoved his fists in his pockets as he approached the desk "I'm looking for Gary Alberts" he said quietly

"I'm sorry, I can't release that information she said"

Matt scowled "I'm-" he swallowed and said even quieter "I'm his son. I'm 16. Don't minors have a damned right to know where their father is?!" it came out in a low growl

to that, the woman blinked back surprise and checked for him "room 312"

Gary Alberts? Who was that? As Matt walked away from the front counter, Megan decided to approach him. "Who's Gary?" Megan asked from behind.

Matt turned and groaned. Great. If Megan knew, he would be told on. That's just what he needed! "you shouldn't be here, Megan" was all he said

"I don't care. And if that were the case, you shouldn't either. It's school hours." Megan pointed out. But she had enough of her own problems. She didn't feel like being at school. "Come on. I won't tell anyone. We have secrets. Things to hide. Hell, even I do."

Matt scoffed "only difference is, they care about you" he said and walked over to the elevator, pushing the up button

Megan followed him over. "Then why can't I even tell them? Tell them something that's practically taking over my life?" Megan shook that from her thoughts. "Nevermind that. Matt, they care about you too. We all do."

Matt scoffed "whatever" he muttered, stepping onto the elevator. He was about to do something he never thought he'd do, and he'd rather Megan not hear it. "get home" he said quietly

Megan put her hand on the elevator, so the doors wouldn't close just yet. "No. I won't. I care about you Matt. I may not always show it. And we may hardly ever talk, but I do care."

Matt glared at her "you think this is about you??" he shook his head "get on or back up" he said, pushing the door close button

Megan shook her head. "No. I don't." Megan stepped onto the elevator, before the doors closed. "Who is this guy?"
