Julian threw the remote down on the coffee table and leaned back against the sofa, straightening out his hair for the dozenth time. It was probably ten minutes ago now that it had been messed up by Mickey to begin with. On his way past the couch, he'd ruffled his hair, informed him he had something to show him and never came back with the something he'd been so excited about. So, instead of bothering to follow, Julian went back to the TV. Whatever he had it was taking him long enough. Though, when he heard his brother's voice return from the kitchen, he looked up.
"Julian! Quick, come here."
He heard the call and took a look between the TV and the door to the kitchen. It probably wasn't that urgent if he'd taken ten minutes to show him. He considered making him wait as long as he'd done to him, but pulled himself up. Honestly, he hadn't left the couch for most of the day. He was in a rut this week. He couldn't write or compose a damn thing. He might as well have been a five year old pounding on a keyboard half of the time. So, instead of beating his head against the wall, he threw himself into a marathon of reality TV and wondered idly if he could become a reality star and be set for life. As he hauled himself off the couch and walked into the kitchen, he couldn't say that he expected such a sight. "What the-- Tell me you didn't do that yourself." He began, and crossed the counter island, not sure whether he should be concerned or impressed.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" Mikhail asked, a huge grin spreading across his face. There was absolute pride there, although this wasn't anything that he had accomplished really. Well, if you called opening his wallet and dishing out 500 dollars an accomplishment, then Mickey had been impressive most of his life. The money that went into feeding his hobby was unreal. But, he had it, so why not spend it? In hindsight, he wasn't sure what the actual going rate for something like this was. He hadn't spent a lot of time on the computer figuring it out. But, it sounded reasonable and come on, what did he know about that kind of thing? When Julian saw it, he couldn't help but laugh at the reaction. As he came around the counter, he saw his brother shake his head, though the amusement was clearly written on his face. He thought it was beautiful, in its own way. Maybe Julian couldn't agree.
"It's going to go up in my pavilion at the fair." He explained, but for now, he supposed that he'd put it up in the pool house. It really wasn't going to go along with the rest of the decor, but he didn't mind. It was a fine investment. And not the most he had spent on decoration or for that matter costuming. Mickey liked everything to be entirely elaborate. He wanted it as close to the real thing as he could get. Aside from the games he played on the weekends, when it came to the fair, they did their best to make it as authentic as possible. And this was just a little bit of fun and it made for a fun piece to hang up.

"Pretty sure that's a he. And he's dead." Jase corrected as he walked in on his brother's gathered around the counter. Quick enough to hear Mickey's question, he couldn't help but laugh as he answered instead of Julian. Taking a long drag of his cigarette, he slipped between them to look at the giant taxidermized deer head on the counter. It was already mounted, although he thought that the mount could have been better done. Maybe he could convince him to let him design a new one for it. He could make it a little more ornate, really. "This one of yours?" He asked, gesturing to a soda can left on the counter. And when both of his brothers shook their head, he flicked his ashes into it and continued to look over it.
"It needs something."
"What?"Mickey asked and Julian only glanced up curiously from where he'd been poking at the antlers.
Jase grabbed the sunglasses from the collar of his shirt and put them over the deer's eyes. "There, now he's better." He announced, teasingly, only to hear both of the other boys scoff at him. Honestly, he didn't know what possessed his brother to bring home a deer head. He didn't hunt, though whoever did probably had a lot of pride in it, given how giant that thing was. He wasn't even sure how you picked one of those up, if it wasn't yours to begin with. But, hey, whatever made him happy. It might be a little fun to play around with.

All the way home, Seth was quietly listening to his dad. This was unusual for the teenager, because he usually had something to say. But, when his dad was on this kind of rampage, the boy knew to shut up. He had known this would happen when he was told they were going over to Ben's to catch up. That never resulted in anything good. He sat in the front seat, listening to his dad going on about how this family would have to get into shape. Mickey and Julian needed to be in school. Julian needed to be doing more with his singing. Jackie needed to get her master's. And how long had it been since the family ran a marathon together? If they didn't start training soon, then little Charlie would never be able to run five miles. Seth was sure the three year would wouldn't be able to anyway, but he wasn't about to argue.
"You need to start training, too. You're going to be joining the summer marathon runners. It will prepare you for the track team." Seth looked at him. Track? He hated track. It was almost as bad as water polo. Of course, nothing could ever be as bad as water polo. Those guys shaved their chests! Of course, he knew at this point, nothing he could say other than yes, sir would be acceptable. So, he didn't say anything. He would just hope that his dad would forget the whole idea. He didn't move or speak until the car pulled into the driveway, at which point, he unseatbelted and ran in through the garage door that led into the kitchen, nearly running into Julian in the process.
"Hey, just a heads up, dad ran into Mr. Del Rossi today. We just came back from his place, and he is not too happy. Oh hey, check it out, you found Bambi! Nice shades, man," he said, momentarily forgetting all about his dad as soon as he saw the deer head. He stuck his fist to it, to knuckle bump, then paused. "Oh. I know," he said, and knuckle-bumbed the antler. He leaned against the counter and put his arm around it, nodding to his brothers. "We're buds," he decided to inform them, even though he wasn't even the one who had brought it home, nor had he known about it until just then.

Damn it. Why did Ben's kids have to be so fucking great? Greg had gotten into a heated argument with the younger man, but the truth was, he felt defeated. He hated that feeling. By nature, he was a competitive man. All of his life, if he felt threatened, he rose to the challenge and usually came up on top. He was invincible as a teenager and young man. Anytime he saw something he wanted, he went after it until he got it. Julie included. So anytime he lost, he got this sinking feeling like he wasn't good enough. When that happened, he got aggressive. He started pushing himself further and further. He had always been like this. It was just, once he had kids, then he started pushing them too. He didn't think it was a bad thing .He was helping them be the best that they could be. And for the most part, he was proud of them.
At least, he was until he talked to Ben. Shit. Helping build hospitals? Teaching children in the Phillipines? The only one of his kids who had ever left the country was Aleiah, and that was for her art. And she ended up quitting. He wasn't too thrilled about that. Winchesters didn't quit. They just didn't. They were winners. Not quitters. Winners didn't quit, and quitters never won. As he always told them when they were competing, they had the word WIN in their last name for a reason. So yes, after leaving Ben's, he started discussing with Seth how they could do better. He thought the conversation was going pretty good, too. As he pulled up in the garage, he didn't even notice how quickly Seth got out of the car. He was collecting his thoughts. They had to be proactive when it came to these things. Taking his time, he got out of the car, locking it before he made his way into the kitchen.
His eyes narrowed at the sight. Jase had a cigarette lit, and Mickey had....a deer head. "Cigarette. Out. Now. he sternly told his son before approaching the sunglasses-clad deer head. He folded his arms, giving Seth a look that was enough to make the boy move away from it. He turned to Mickey. His oldest. By three minutes, at least. The young man had so much potential and he did things like this. "Please tell me you at least killed this thing." That was all he really cared about. Because, if he had killed it, then he would be pretty damn proud of him for once. But, since he hadn't seen the boy go anywhere aside from his little games and his ren faires, he was sure that he hadn't. He was ready to whap him upside his head. Jason had been off teaching children in the Philippines, and here Mickey was, playing with deer heads. What the hell was he thinking?

The sound of her father coming home shouldn't terrify her, but it did. Ever since the call came in that morning, she had been dreading the moment when her father would listen to it. Maya almost erased the message altogether, but then that wouldn't be honest. And even when faced with trouble, she was a kid who had to be honest. Under ordinary circumstances, her dad wouldn't have cared. They had always been taught to defend themselves, so long as they understood the difference between defending themselves and just plain fighting, and they knew where to draw the line. All she had done was defend herself. But she had been suspended from two meets for it. And because she couldn't compete, her dad was going to care. Maya didn't normally get into trouble. So when she did, it terrified her.
She had been in the fitness room when she heard Mickey call for Julian. Curiously, Maya unhooked her artificial leg from where it had been securely held so she could do pull-ups and left the room, watching them from the corner where the hallway and the kitchen met, When she saw the deer head, she had smiled softly. Mickey could have very well saved her life with that one. But when Seth came in, followed by their dad, she frowned again. With their dad in the Ben Zone, as Jake called it, there was no hope for her. Someone needed to erase that message! Still, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She couldn't ask Seth, because he would tell. She looked at the three older ones. Mickey and Jase both had their dad's attention. So, quietly, she went up behind Julian, trying not to attract too much attention, and tugged on his arm. "Jules. I need a favor."

There was something he forgot to do. As Brick came to the end of his chapter, he looked up from his book, frowning. What had mom asked him to do? It was all a fuzzy memory, especially since it had been in the middle of Moby Dick. He thought about it, really giving it some thought. Now, it wasn't like Brick had a bad memory. It was the exact opposite, actually. He was skilled at memorization, and could remember everything he ever read. It was just, when he read, he fully concentrated on his book and so when he was asked to do things like feed Shelby's puppies, he tended to forgot. Ohhhh. That was what it was! Brick immediately put the book down and headed for the Whelping room. The puppies were four weeks old now, and Shelby had been taken to the vet today, so he needed to feed them. Except, he should have fed them three hours ago. He entered the room, greeted by the golden retriever puppies. He petted one of them and then went back out to get the food, forgetting to close the door back up. So when he returned to feed them, they were gone.
There were seven puppies somewhere in the house. Brick wondered if he could find any of them before his parents noticed what he had done. He was going to try. He started by searching his room, and the other bedrooms on the ground floor. When that didn't work, he went into the living room, and finally the kitchen. He ignored everyone in there and simply crawled in on his hands and knees, searching for any of the puppies who might be in there. He crawled past Jase, craning his neck to see in between the counters, before going around his brother, whistling for the puppies.

"I didn't know that," he said in his cell phone as he finished what was left of his homework. Talking on the phone always helped him finish early. His parents didn't really believe that, but it was true. And this conversation with Sasha Young definitely had him engrossed. "A weekend party on the lake sounds awesome. I just need to come up with a cover and get some wheels. Yeah, I can take you. Ok, bye." He hung up and stood up. Yes! Next weekend was going to be sweet. His cover was a little more complicated to figure out, but he would deal with it. First, he needed to get himself a set of wheels. He was only seventeen, after all. The family rule was that nobody was allowed to get a car until they graduated high school. Which meant he had one more year to go. And this could not wait.
He knew Julian was watching tv, so he headed downstairs, only to find the living room deserted and everyone in the kitchen. He sighed. His dad was in there. Oh, well. He would figure out a way to ask. He went into the kitchen, following his younger brother before stepping over the crawling eight year old. "Freak," he taunted him. He looked up at the deer head. Oh, that had to be Mickey's! Especially since that was who their dad was looking at when he said something about killing it. He went up beside his brother, figuring a little kissing up wouldn't hurt. "Hey. Nice deer head thing," he said with an innocent smile. Anyone who knew him knew that compliments were paid when he wanted something. But, it still didn't hurt to start with one, right?

Adam had been in his room all day, attending skype conferences with a few different renowned scientists. That was his way of relaxing after a hard week. It was exhausting tutoring kids in physics at school. Especially when the kid was stupid and had no desire to learn. But tutoring looked good on his college application. Not that he would have any trouble getting in. He could have been done with high school and be in college by now, if he had chosen to. But Adam was in no hurry to leave high school. Even though he was what people considered to be a nerd, he did like his life, his school. He didn't want to leave it.
He was just ending his last conference when he heard his cell phone go off.. He looked up with a frown and picked it up. It was Seth, of course. With an eye roll, he opened it. And, upon reading that their dad was in the Ben Zone, he got up and went downstairs. It was inevitable, anyways. Every time this happened, their dad called them all in the living room, lectured them on what they were doing wrong and they all lost their freedom for several weeks. It had been a few years since the last encounter, but he remembered it well. The kitchen was crowded enough for him, so he decided to sit down on the couch and read. That was where they would end up, anyways, he was sure.

Her first day back with her friends was so much fun. Aleiah had borrowed the range rover and had gone to the mall. She and her friends had so much fun, and by the time she returned, she had several bags clinging onto each hand. The garage had enough space for five cars, so she had pulled up beside her dad's car. As she was collecting her things, though, her phone rang. Looking at it, she rolled her eyes. He just wouldn't stop calling! Lee ignored it and took her things, going through the back to reach her room, which over looked the pool. She set everything on her bed before going to the main part of the house.
"Ok, so who wants to fly to Paris and kick my ex's ass?" she asked out of frustration, before seeing the look on her dad's face. Oh, he wasn't happy. With a sigh, she took a seat on the couch beside Adam. She looked at him, and with a nudge, nodded to the kitchen, "What's going on?" Part of her already knew. But after all, it had been three years. And their dad did get worked up over other things, too. But when he answered her, she nodded. Yup, she was right. Though, part of her wished she could have been there. She would have loved to have been there to taunt Pip Squeak. She definitely felt like making fun of someone right now, especially when her phone went off again. Not wanting to deal with it, she turned off her phone and pocketed it, waiting. Like Adam, she knew that their dad would eventually call a family meeting. And, she'd rather be ready than being yelled at because she had to go across the house and it took less than three seconds. Her dad's patience definitely went out the window after a run-in with Mr. Del Rossi.

She's starboard side, She's well equipped. I'm in the ocean, Causing commotion. She should've known from the start Her heart was my favorite part. Overthrow the status quo, never listen to the lingo. This was all so confusing. How was Jase able to deal with it when he first came out anyway? No, she could not do that though. It was just feelings. But was it love? Sterling had thought she had gotten rid of her feelings for the Del Rossi girl long ago. Apparently not. And what did she do? Something so stupid. How could she have been so completely idiotic? She was supposed to be a genius. But when it came to love, romance, personal feelings, Sterling felt like a complete and total outcast. She was not use to any of that. She was good in school, in sports. But not with all this mushy crap. So it came completely by surprise when without even thinking, Sterling had kissed Hannah on the lips after getting into the younger girls car. Her heart was pounding, her hands had been sweating. Her dad was going to kill her. Not for kissing a girl, she knew that. But for that girl being a Del Rossi. But before Hannah could even say a word, Sterling pulled away and said that she should take her home now. And she stayed quiet most of the way back to her house.
Getting out of the car, Sterling mumbled a goodbye and rushed into the house. She had been about to head straight up to her room when she heard voices coming from the kitchen. So that was where she headed instead. She had set her bag down on the end table before walking into the kitchen. Listening to the others talk, she walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water before turning around. Her eyes landed on her older brother, Jase. Maybe he could help her figure this out. Sterling was so confused and she had no idea what to even do. Taking a sip of water, she walked over to him. “Hey, Jase…” she spoke, softly, not wanting the others to hear. “Can I talk to you? This kind of can’t wait.”
