It had been so long since the two had talked. Paige couldn't believe how quickly the years had passed. It seemed like just yesterday when she was bidding all of her friends farewell to go to Hollywood. So much had happened since then. Paige had been young and stupid. She never meant to really hurt Marco the way she did. And she had regretted it ever since. Paige had been a coward, though. Once Marco ignored her call, she never tried it again. Part of her was hoping he would show up in her life once more. The reality is, though, that this wasn't his responsibility. It was hers. But she had guffawed on it. Rather than pursue one of her best friends, she pursued her career. She was successful, too. And it had brought a lot of men in her life, including a quick, re-heated flame with Spinner, when she decided she wanted a child. It worked, too, even though Spinner's wife found out and hated her for it. It gave her a beautiful baby boy, her only son. As much as her life had brought her, though, there was something missing. And that something was Marco. But she just wasn't brave enough to call him.
The death of Emma changed all of that. It made Paige realize that life was too short to be a coward. What if something happened to Marco before she talked to him? Paige would never be able to forgive herself. She would have to talk to him. Now, before it was too late. And she knew just the person who could tell her where Marco's office was. Manny Santos. The two had been friends since, ironically, just after Marco and Paige had stopped being friends. So, a quick phone call was made, and soon, Paige was on her way to his office. She had been in Prague, showcasing her designs in a fashion show. Her plane had landed in Toronto just the night before. After resting up, Paige had gotten up and nervously went through her wardrobe to find an apology outfit. She decided on a darker color; to show remorse. Once she had her suit on, she took a cab to the address given to her.
She fumbled with her hands, needing something to do with them. She had a magazine, but flipping through it did her no good. She was shaking. Her eyes focused on the window, and as the cab pulled up to the building, she quickly paid and went inside. It didn't take her long to notice that Marco was doing the same thing that she was. Paige looked around, pushing her shades up on her head. Well. Marco had done well for himself. She was impressed.
"Can I help you?"
Paige looked at the young woman and smiled, approaching her. "I need to talk to Marco. I'm an old friend of his."
"I'm sorry, but Mr. Del Rossi is busy right now."
Paige scoffed. She wasn't going to take this. After all, she was Paige Michalchuck. "Uh, hun. Take a good look. Do you know who I am?"
The girl blinked. "No."
"I figured as much. I am Paige Michalchuck. Ahh, yes, now you know me. Look, I'm not just some nobody that waltzed in. And who knows? What I have to say to Marco could very well change your future...for good or for worse. Now., Page him and tell him that he has a visitor. I want to surprise him."
The girl stammered and nodded, calling him to page him. Paige smirked and looked around. She hadn't really changed a whole lot. But this? Apologizing? That part of her was different. Back when she and Marco severed ties, she had been proud. So no, Paige didn't just suddenly transform into an angel. She still acted like she was better than some people. And yes, she could be a bitch if someone crossed her. Like the girl that she had given a veiled threat to. It was harmless, though, really. A little intimidation could go a long way sometimes.
