Natasha clung to the number that would soon be pinned to her back. She couldn't believe this. If she was recruited, it would make her entire year! As she waited in the hallway to find out the next step, she couldn't contain her excitement. This was so cool! She literally bounced as she stood against the wall. Of course, she was nervous. She would always have her ex boyfriend's voice haunting her. Telling her she wasn't good enough. Well, she would show him!
Now, Craig Manning's music wasn't exactly this girl's style. But that wasn't why she was here. The reason she was here was what she was auditioning for. Music camp, funded by Craig Manning. And it would involve rock music, as well as classical, oldies--even broadway. It was a camp that would normally cost thousands to get in. And of course, her family could afford it. But Natasha wanted to feel like she had earned her place. And these auditions, they were for a spot in the camp absolutely free. They were giving ten spots. Natasha looked around. There must have been over three hundred people here. Still, she was determined to try.
God, she couldn't sit still. Natasha decided it would be best to go ahead and stretch. She decided to do her yoga poses, starting with the dancer. The girl stood on one leg, bringing her second leg up behind her head, holding on to her foot as her other arm remained outstretched. She focused on her breathing. And after a couple of minutes, she set her foot down. Yeah, she was feeling great. She wore a pair of leotards with a pink unitard, her blond hair pulled back with a sparkly, pink scrunchie holding it in place. And of course, she had pink, sparkly ballet shoes.
"Attention!" Natasha looked up at the redhead as she called out. Sarah Belsito was Craig's manager. The girl behind the scenes who made this all possible. Natasha wouldn't ordinarily say this, but she admired the woman. "I should have given everyone a number by now. If you haven't checked in, the door is that way. I've organized your names into a hundred and pairs. Check for your name on this bulletin board, and take note of the audition time and the room number. The room number is the classroom number you will be waiting in. Get to know your partner, because this may be the girl or guy who helps you get in to Camp Sasquatch. Break a leg, everyone!"
Natasha rushed to the board, with everyone else, and started scanning the papers for her name. By the time she got close to the end of the board, she spotted it. Pair 145, Jennifer Matlin and Natasha Simpson. They had an audition at two-thirty? Tasha looked at her watch. It was only nine now. Oh, well. Plenty of time to prepare. They would be in room 302, on the third floor. Natasha headed for the elevator but stopped short of pushing the button. She looked around first. She wanted to see her partner once she spotted her name.
