That was weird.
If Cameron had to describe his first week undercover, that would be exactly the term he would use. Weird. He didn't like being away from his lab. He didn't like being in the field. And he really didn't like pretending to be Sam. Sam. He didn't even like that name! He would much rather becalled Jake or Spencer. But Sam?! The name was so old-fashioned!
He had just spent the past five days surrorunded by teenagers and getting nowhere. Every time he thought he had a lead, it went absolutely nowhere. As it turned out, teenagers were very dramatic. He had even managed to get two weeks of detention for his attitude. And as he found out, detention was a vert drag, very dull form of punishment. And he still had a week and two days of it left to serve.
He left the school after detention was over. He picked up some Indian food, to comfort himself after the disastrous week. Taking the food into the apartment, he shut the front door, turning his cell phone off and shoving it in his jacket pocket. He wanted to be left alone by the precinct. He knew that if it another body popped up over the weekend, they would call his sister's cell phone or their landline. But until that happened, he wanted to take his mind off of work.
With that done, he sighed and put his keys in the candy dish and set the food on the counter. "Shea? I'm home. Finally." To be honest, he was still getting used to having his sister here with him. He loved having her, of course. But, his routine had been disrupted when she was placed with him. And now, undercover work and detention was disrupting his routine even more. Cameron liked his routine. He didn't like this new one.
Though, he had met one person who made undercover tolerable. Jessica Carpenter. The girl had threatened his life, but at the same time, her pain, her loneliness was so obvious. He wanted to make her less lonely. He felt a connection, because he knew how life as a foster kid could be like and he, too, was quite lonely.
He snapped out of his thoughts as the sauce from his dish spilled on the table. Running across the kitchen, he grabbed a rag and quickly wiped the spill. He sighed, grabbing some plates. He needed to just get everything off of his mind. And what better way to do so than a weekend with just his sister? Hopefully she wouldn't mind taking the weekend off of work.
