On the outside looking in, Rachel had everything a girl could want. She was popular, she was hot, and when he was not hospitalized and in a coma, she had an amazing boyfriend. Rachel was even part of Willow's clique. It might even appear to the naked eye that the fifteen year old didn't have any problems at all.
Her family was gone. How was she supposed to come back from that? Rachel had lost her parents, maybe even forever. And even if her dad DID come back, she would never forgive him. Ever. What he did, sleeping with Jamie, she could have overlooked. But he left her. Abandoned her. Nobody could possibly know what that felt like.
She walked into the park, taking her hair out of the perfect style she wore at school. Tears in her eyes, she ran away from the school, as fast as she could, until her asthma started acting up and she had to stop. Panting, she sat on a bench. It was then that she pulled up her sleeve, her eyes on the multiple cuts already made on her skin. Pulling out her envelope opener, she swallowed before making yet another one. Rachel knew the facts She knew that it wasn't the solution, etc. But she didn't care. She felt like she earned the right to cut.

Megan was not going to go back to Degrassi. She did not care what anyone said. Jack was there. How could she feel safe there with Jack in the same place. And how was she suppose to tell her dad the REASON that she did not want to go back there. She had know idea that he already knew about Jack. And that night was something that Megan REFUSED to talk about. Every time it was even mentioned, she would put her hands over her ears. No, she would not, could not, talk about it period. And nobody was GOING to make her either. Not if she had a say in it.
It was time to get out of the house. Yeah, Megan had been dead set against doing just that. But she was also sick and tired of people TRYING to talk to her about that night. God, couldn’t she just forget about what had ALMOST happened to her. No! Did they not get it?? She did NOT want to talk about it! She wouldn’t. And what was the worst part of it was the fact that she resented her best friend for saving her life. She would never tell ANYONE, but she wished that Jack had just FINISHED her off once and for all.
And Megan did not tell anyone that she was leaving either. Well, she did not leave a note anyway. Everybody was either at school or at work. And she did NOT plan on being home before them either. A part of her did not want to even go back home until everyone was in bed, sound asleep. With a sigh, Megan left her house and headed straight to the park. It should be quiet there this time of day, since most kids were in school. But once there, she noticed someone sitting on the bench. She walked over slowly. “Rachel?” She really could not believe what she saw. Rachel, she had always seemed so happy. She never realized how much pain she had really been in. She sat down next to the girl and looked down at the blood on Rachel’s arm. But she was not going to stop her. Wouldn’t that make her a hypocrite if she did? Probably so. Without warning, Megan pulled the younger girl into her arms. “Talk to me. What’s going on?”

No. Not Megan Del Rossi. Rachel looked up at her as she sat beside her. A tear went down her cheek. God, if she only knew what they were planning...and just like that, she was holding her. "Stop," she whimpered, grabbing her arms and pulling out of her grasp. She stood up. She couldn't deal with this. Rachel was a horrible, horrible person. She never meant to be! But Scott needed protecting,. Really, all she was trying to do was make sure that nobody did anything to the Mannings. But at what cost? She passed pictures around of Jessa. And before that, she was helping Willow plan Megan's humiliation. "Stop!" she yelled it out this time.
"Don't ask me. I don't deserve...anything. God, do you have any idea what was going to happen to you? You weren't popular, Megan. Not for long. She was going to humiliate you in front of everyone. With information I dug up for her. And you wanna know why? Because I'm a coward. I can't say no to her. I can't even stop my family from leaving me behind." And just like that, she was sobbing. Shaking her head, she swallowed her tears and gasped for air. "Just go, Megan. That's what my parents did. That's obviously all that I deserve."

This was not something that Megan knew if she would handle this all that well. But well, she could try. Right? She really was not all that use to having to deal with other peoples problems. When Rachel mentioned her being humiliated, she just ignored that. Really, should she even be all that surprised? In fact she really wasn't. She never really even liked Willow. Why had she wanted to fit in even? It was stupid, but Megan had been so sick and tired of being an outcast. She wanted to belong for once in her pathetic life. It really was stupid. She hurt her friends, her family. Why had she done that? They should hate her for the things that she had done, had said.
Megan got to her feet. “Rachel...” she shook her head. “No, I am not leaving you here. You are in obvious need of a friend. Look, I do not care what you dug up, no matter how bad. I don't care what Willow had planned to do. I don't even want anything to do with that bitch. But you? You're different. You may do what Willow wants, but I understand why. Because I had been willing to do just that. Even hurt my own family. And maybe I'm not family, maybe you don't even like me, even as a friend. But I am staying here, with you. I don't care and would not stop you from cutting.” She took Rachel's hand in her own. “If I forced you to stop, I know that that would make me a complete and total hypocrite. I cut too. I totally get that need to want to cause yourself pain, to make sure that you are still alive. But please know that if you ever need to talk, I will listen. No judgement. Think of it as your very own safe zone. It can be in private if you want. Willow, or anyone else for that matter, ever has to know about this.”

Rachel didn't get it. This was entirely her fault. Why didn't Megan just leave her to deal with it? As she listened, she wiped her eyes and nodded, sitting back down. She picked up her weapon and stared at it. How could she have been so selfish? She was the reason her dad needed a release. She had pushed him to the point where he kicked her out. She had refused a spanking. She had watched him go for his belt. And she had given him attitude, cussed him out and refused to drop her pants and roll over like he had ordered her to. And then when he threw her out, she had stubbornly refused to go home and talk it out, even after her sister asked her to. Of course it was too late! She would have left herself behind, too.
She looked at Megan and spoke again, this time her words were barely above a whisper. ''You promise she won't find out?'' She couldn't afford that. There was too much at stake. She stared at her arm. She was ready to take that spanking. If it meant having her family back. But she knew better. It didn't work that way. But god, she wished that it did. Rachel would give up her life to have them back. She tried to find them. Neither her mother or her father were in Toronto. They had truly abandoned her.

Before her life had completely spiraled out of control, Megan had wanted to be popular. She admired that popular clique. That was probably one of the reason she jumped at the chance when Willow had actually approached her. Deep down, Megan knew that it was all a lie. She was sure of that. But she ignored what her gut told her. After her accident, Megan had distanced herself from everyone. From her friends, her family. From everyone. She just wanted out of her life so badly. She did not even care the cost of doing so. Megan thought that if maybe she distanced herself, then maybe she could avoid ever getting hurt again. Megan had suffered so much throughout her lifetime. She was not so sure how much pain she could take. She felt lost, felt broken. Guess everyone could feel that way at times, huh?
Sitting back down on the bench, Megan placed a gentle hand on Rachel’s knee. “I promise you, Rachel. Your secret is safe with me. Cross my heart.” And without warning, Megan pulled Rachel into a hug. “I am so sorry for what you are going through. And remember, I am always here if you need a friend who won't judge. You know my number. Don’t be afraid to use it.”
