General Appearance: As tall as he is, Kristofer has never worn clothes that actually fit him. He wore pants that were too short, jackets that were too tight to close and zip. *Kris has always wondered what it feels like to rape someone.
Overall Personality: Kristofer is a recluse, shy when it comes to strangers. Because he’s been living on the streets, he hasn’t really allowed himself to trust a whole lot of people. The only ones he really opens up to are the ones who live in the DiMarco house. He is ever grateful to that family, and as a result feels a bond that he has never felt before with Larisa and Johnny, as well as all of the kids who live there. He especially feels protective over the newest addition to the family, Rebekah.
This boy is afraid of rejection. He has gone through so much in his life, that everyone he meets and forms a relationship with, he also forms a fear that they will sever the relationship and send him on his way. Because of this fear, he is rather defensive, even when he doesn’t need to be. He often takes questions as accusations. And if he thinks he’s being accused of something, he becomes argumentative and fearful. He also becomes hard to deal with, and a lot of times, belligerent. That’s usually when he gets sent away, and his fear is realized. It’s a vicious cycle that has grown worse every time.

Background: Kristofer was born the youngest of thirteen children—the only boy. He never knew his parents. His father was in and out of jail, and his mom worked the hooker strip to support her drug habit. For his first six years, he was raised by his oldest sister, Gabriella. But when she got pregnant herself, and discovered she was going to have twins, she decided that she couldn’t deal with two babies and a kid, even if the kid WAS her brother. She passed him over to his sister Sabrina. Like her mother, Sabrina had a drug addiction, and deemed her brother useless because he was a boy and couldn’t do anything to earn her drugs. He bounced around between his other sisters, until he was eight years old.
When Kris was eight, he was living with his sister Noelle and her boyfriend. The boyfriend was a gang member and had pissed off the wrong opposing gang. One day, there was a drive-by shooting. The police were called, and Noelle was arrested. Watching his sister in handcuffs, the boy was terrified. He overheard a cop mentioning taking the boy to a foster home. Realizing that he was talking about him, he snuck out the back door and ran. He wasn’t really sure where he was going. He just knew that he did not want to be taken to some strange home.
The boy wandered the streets, scared and alone, until he ran into a drug dealer. He recognized the guy and knew what he did, because he had dealt drugs to his mother. He asked him if he could take him to his mom. The guy told him of course he would and beckoned him to go with him. Blindly, Kristofer trusted him and followed the man. And for the next two years, while he did have a place to stay, he was kept in the basement and forced to prepare drugs.
It was when he turned ten years old that the guys he lived with decided that he needed to do more to earn his keep. After all, he was getting bigger and it was taking more to keep him fed. So rather than simply preparing drugs, he was sent to deliver them and bring money home. He was warned that if he returned home without the drugs, and he didn’t have any money to show for it, then he was going to regret it. Kris had no idea how that could possibly happen. He soon found out.
One day, when he was on his way to meet with someone who wanted drugs, Kristofer got mugged. He had been watched by a couple of druggies who didn’t want to have to spend money to get their fix. He returned home, and even though he tried to explain what had happened, it didn’t matter. The boy was beaten, burned, and locked in the basement for three days without food or water. That was a lesson that Kristofer wouldn’t quickly forget. From then on, he tried to avoid the alleyways that the druggies would be. But that wasn’t the only time they stole the drugs from him. But after being beaten and starved, the boy was determined to get money to take back to the men he lived with and worked for.
It was at that age that he started stealing. Anytime he saw a purse or wallet that wasn’t being watched, he took everything he could from it. All he wanted was to not be beaten like he was that first time. That was what he was doing one night, when he came across a girl being gang raped. All the ten year old wanted was to get fifty more bucks to take home, so that he wouldn’t be in trouble. He hid in a dumpster while the girl was raped, and after her attackers left, taking most of her clothes with her, he climbed out, just as she was putting on a sweatshirt that they had dropped. He slowly approached her. Looking at him, the girl begged him to go fetch a policeman, and help her. But he knew he couldn’t be distracted. He knew what he had to do. So, he told her to give him money and he would. She didn’t have anything, though, so he walked away. He never forgot her, though.
He did find fifty more bucks that night. He wound up stealing it from collection plates in the Catholic Church. But as he arrived home, he discovered that wasn’t his only problem. He got in trouble for getting home late. While he wasn’t beaten or starved, he wasn’t allowed outside anymore. Instead, he was given a new assignment. He was in charge of keeping the guns loaded and cleaned. He was even shown how to shoot it.
That was his life until he was fifteen years old. Then, everything came to a stand-still. The cops did a drug raid, and once more, he was on the run, only this time, he was trying to avoid being arrested. He kept on the move in the city, sleeping in a different place each night. One such night, he slept behind the library, where he actually managed to find a book. He held onto that book, and even though he never went to school, he read it over and over.
It was shortly after he turned sixteen, that he met Larisa DiMarco. He had stolen a purse, looking to be able to eat that day. He hadn’t had a solid meal in almost a week. He was chased, and by chance ran into the woman as she was opening her car door. She didn’t know him, he was sure of it. So why she pretended to be his mother, he had no idea. She made him give the purse back, and got the man chasing him to go away. And then she did even more—she invited him into her home. He still doesn’t understand why, but he is now in the house and sharing a room with Connor.
