"Let's get one thing straight, you little brat. I am not responsible for you!" The maid spoke very snidely as her hand rested on the front door handle.
"But Lily said to watch me!"
"Yeah, well, Lily doesn't sign my paychecks. And guess what? Tending to five year old devil children is not in my job description"
Tears stung Rory's eyes. Face scrunched up, she pushed her. "If my daddy was here--"
"Yeah, well he's not" she didn't even seem fazed by the fact that she had been pushed. Instead, the woman simply left.
Rory folded her arms. It was a Saturday afternoon, and nobody was home. Lily had detention, and had left the maid in charge, trying to be a semi-responsible older sister. But the maid didn't want to be there, apparently. And as she left, Rory grabbed her jacket and left the house herself.
Being called a devil's child hurt. Rory knew that she wasn't always good, but she would be if her daddy and mommy would come back. Rory had spent the past few months wandering the city, doing whatever. This time, she was on a mission. She was going to find her daddy.
She slipped on the bus easily, just as she had time and time before. She scurried to the back, hiding from the driver. Nobody ever noticed the young child. She kept an eye out for an area that she knew. And when she saw one, she pulled the string. It was the grocery store mommy and daddy used to shop at. Quickly getting off, she went on a search for Sean. Maybe he was just getting groceries and then he'd be home.
She went inside and the aroma made her hungry. She went down an aisle, grabbed a bag of chips and hid behind a display, eating them. What Aurora Cameron never expected, was to be noticed by someone. After all, she never had before.

"Daddy!" Danny was alerted not only by the whine of his name (which wasn't the first time he heard it, but about the sixth, only this time it was louder and more frustrated), but also a kick to his shoe that caused him to look down at the four year old clutching his hand. The pouting mood was over him not letting his hand go. Well, initially, it was because he wanted a giant shopping cart and Danny refused it and now it was because he wouldn't let go so he could proceed to grab everything he could to throw in the basket. Oh, and in the last five minutes he decided that he was picky about anything that Danny picked up, regardless of whether or not he knew what it was or who it was for.
"Did you just kick me?" Of course he did. It was a ridiculous question and he knew the answer before the little boy even recited it.
"No."
"Christopher." It was a warning tone, but Chris insisted on tugging his hand instead, letting out a whine.
"Daddy, just one." He begged, even managing to bounce on his feet to add to it. Danny was pretty sure he was ten seconds away from a fit if he wasn't careful. Though, he looked down at him quizzically. One what? It wasn't as if he had been asking for anything that Danny felt like getting for him.
"One what?"
"Crackers." Knowing it would get no where to inform his son that he had his his plurals mixed up, he sighed.
"All right. One box. Grab it, okay?" It was just across the way from him, so it wasn't as if he would really lose sight of the boy. And it would give Chris a chance to stop pouting for five minutes. The boy took off towards the shelves and crouched down to pick up the box he wanted before he began to go back, only to be distracted by someone else hidden behind a display. With a quick look around, to make sure Danny wasn't going to be mad at him, he slipped behind it with her.
"Hi. You're not supposed to eat back here." He informed her, because he'd been scolded one too many times over trying to open food in the grocery store. He didn't think much about just saying hi, after all, she was a kid too and he liked having friends.

Suddenly, she was facing another kid. Rory blinked, surprised when he talked to her. "They don't care," she spoke with her mouth full before swallowing. "I do this all the time. I don't have any moneys." It was easy to her. She would often grab something hide, and eat it. But, to prevent to be rude, she held the bag out to the boy. "Want one?" She figured she could share. It wasn't something she was accustomed to doing; normally she was a little bully. But with her parents gone, the bully in her just didn't have that drive anymore.
"I'm Aurora," she introduced herself. "I'm looking for my daddy. Have you seen him?" After all, that was the main goal: to find daddy. And hey, if he could help her, then maybe she'd find him faster. That was the way it worked whenever she was looking for a lost toy. If someone helped her find it, it was recovered quicker. And this boy looked like he would be a good finder. She would bet he was good at hide-and-go-seek.
