Change was supposed to be good. That's what people said. But to the fifteen year old girl, it just didn't prove to be the case. Change had led to disappointment. There was one change, back in late October/early November, that had proved to be the best thing that had ever happened to her. And that was Aidan. But nothing else had done any good to her. When the woman first showed up, all Mallory could think about was how she had been lied to her entire life. She felt hurt, betrayed.
But then, she talked to the people in her life about it.And Mallory came to a realization. How was she ever going to be able to trust that she wouldn't just run at the first sign of trouble, unless she gave her that chance? She had to take that risk. After making her decision, Mallory took the address that had been written for her mom and followed the directions that the computer gave her. When she got to the complex, she nervously got to the door. Sighing, she pulled out a twenty. Apparently, hr mom had dropped it when she was at the house. Wekll, it would serve to be a nice test, Knocking on the door, Mallory folded her arms, waiting for her mother to come to the door.

TAYLOR'S OUTFIT
When Taylor first showed back up in Toronto, she was not so sure that it was such a good idea. JT and Toby, her daughter, they were all here. She was sure that they were all still here. And she was not sure that she should get involved in their lives. She didn't want to cause any problems. That was the last thing that Taylor wanted to do. When she had first gone to Degrassi when she was just fourteen years old, Taylor had been going through a lot. And she was a girl who did not speak. Not one bit. Not to the people at school. And not even to her own family. But when she met JT Yorke, he had been the nicest guy that she had met. And so what if he had been seventeen, three years older than herself. He was also the first guy that she spoke to after all that time. And the first one she had opened up too. But things did not always go over so smoothly in life. When Taylor was sixteen years old, her junior year of high school, she cheated on JT with his best friend Toby Isaacs. And even to this day, it was the biggest mistake of her life. Even to this day, she had never stopped loving JT. But things change and people change and he had probably just did not care about her anymore. And she did not blame him.
But back to her mistake, the mistake that cost her the only boy whom she ever truly loved. The first boy that ever truly cared about her. Because of one mistake, she thought her childhood would be over. She ended up pregnant. But she was sixteen. How could she ever raise a baby. It was not that she did not want kids. She did one day. But she was not about to get an abortion either. Even if she did not want to admit it, Taylor loved this child. And all she had wanted was the very best for her. When her parents had found out about the child, they told her that she was not going to keep this child. She either had to give it up or have the father take her. So, that was way she lied to Toby after the baby was born. Taylor had told Toby that this was all of his fault. That she regretted that night. That she did not and never would want this child. And to tell her whatever he wanted to about why she was not around. But it was not true. It was never true. At the end, Taylor really wanted to keep this baby, but her parents forced her to take her away. And so she had no other choice. And she worried that if later on, she showed up in this child's life, she would wreck everything for her. And that was the last thing that she wanted.
And now, after coming back here, maybe she had been right to stay away. Her daughter would never want her mother in her life. And how could she blame her? She had every reason to not want her mother around. She was sitting in her living room, watching the newsd when she heard a knock on her door. Picking up the tv remote, she turned the television off and got up. She walked over to the door and opened it. Only to find her daughter. She smiled, softly. “Mallory...what brings you here?”

Mallory chewed on her bottom lip as she waited for her. Her mother. The woman she thought died giving birth to her. When she first showed up, Mallory had yelled at both her and her father. But the truth was, she had always wished she was alive. Wished she could be there for her. Because, what girl actually wanted her mother to be dead? Mallory was going through those mixed-up teenage girls. She was only fifteen. She needed a mother. She hadn’t even had “the talk”, because her dad was just bad with that sort of thing. The closest thing she had to a mother before now had been Nesse. Her oldest sister. And that was really sad. She was only a year older, after all.
The door opened and she looked down, tucking hair behind her ears. “I didn’t really give you a chance.” She admitted, looking up at her. “The truth is, I want a mom. Not a friend, a mother. I’m just a kid. I can’t just live on my own without a parent. I-I need to be disciplined, because I’m gonna mess up. I’m gonna get in trouble. But that’s what it feels right now. It feels like I’m already an adult, and I don’t like that. I’m not ready to grow up.” She didn’t think she had to grow up so soon, either. She still had a few years before she turned eighteen.
“Dad’s always off with his music. Honestly, I don’t think he can handle the pressure. S-something bad happens, and he takes off. Like a coward.” She swallowed before blinking back tears. “I-I need to know that you won’t do that. That you won’t disappear just because trouble happens. Cause….I need you, mommy.” Mommy. A word she had never once been able to use as a child. Suddenly, she felt very small. She felt like she was that six year old girl hiding from Matthew again. And before she knew it, she had wrapped her arms around the older woman’s neck and dug her face into her chest, crying.

All those years, Taylor had wanted to know how her baby was doing. When Taylor turned 18 and moved out from her parents’ home, she tried contacting Toby. But he never answered or contacted her back. She once received a letter, telling her to stop contacting him and to never contact his daughter either. His! She was her kid too. She never wanted to let Toby take her and she hated him for keeping their daughter from her. She did not want that. She needed her daughter. More than she needed JT. But she screwed up. She had listened to her parents. What if she hadn’t? Would things have turned out differently? But she was sixteen. What else could she do?
And before Taylor could say anything to her daughter, the young girls arms were around her neck and she was crying. This was something that Taylor was not really all that use to, but she wouldn’t run either. She would be a mother if it was the last thing she did. She loved her daughter. Always had. Even before she was born. And instinctively, Taylor wrapped her arms around Mallory. “It’s okay.” She whispered. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere, Sweetie. Mommy loves you. I always have.” She pulled away, kissing the girl on her forehead, gently.

Mal couldn't describe the feeling of being held by her mother. It was like a dream come true. When she was a little girl, she often got left out whenever girls were going places with their mothers. She didn't fit in with the boys whose fathers took them fishing and camping, because her dad didn’t like doing those things. Mallory had always envied her siblings. They had mothers to go home to. But not Mal. She was like the ugly duckling. And finally, here was her chance to be a swan. Maybe. She had to remind herself that the woman hugging her could always decide that she wasn't worth the trouble. Well, she supposed now was a good time to find out.
Breaking the hug, Mal immediately took off her glasses and cleaned them, as they had fogged up by her tears. When she put them back on, she cleared her throat. ''When you were at my house, you-I uhm.'' Why was this so hard to do? Mal inwardly cursed at herself for having a hard time lying. She finally decided to do it quick, like a band aid. ''I stole a twenty from you. I told you, I'm going to get in trouble.'' There. And to be honest, she didn't care that she could very well be in trouble for something she didn't do. Because it would be a sign that she cared. Unlike the man who couldn't care less that a piece of paper declared him as her father. ''I tried telling dad. He left on his dumb tour before I could. So...'' she inhaled. ''I guess it's up to you.'' Please do something! Mallory was sure her mom had no idea how much she craved parental discipline.
