April 2nd. As the day came around, Hannah found herself rethinking some things. She had been pretty distant from everyone, except her daddy. She loved Marco with all of her heart. She never even knew she could know parental love like that. Four years ago, when she was drifting from home to home before going to Juvenile Hall and before ending up here, she never would have thought that she would have ended up adopted, with a family. And she definitely wouldn't think that she would have ended up engaged.
But now, Derek was gone. And had he still been here, then they would have had a seven month anniversary. He was the only reason she clung to her wild days. Everyone else--Marco, Aidan, Chance, they all made her want to change. And that was what she decided to do.
She had been in the Catholic church a couple of times. The first tme around, was a few weeks ago, and she had stolen some things; a golden candlestick, some money from the collection plate. If Hannah had any idea that seconds after she left, the body of a child and Sniper victim would have been left, she would never have done it. But she had no way of knowing. And she had been doing what Hannah did best: stealing. The second time around, though, she had spoken to a priest who was actually pretty comforting. And it made her rethink the candlestick and money.
She needed to try and return it. Maybe then, she could ask for forgiveness. It was worth a try, anyways. She wasn't worrying about being missed. As it turned out, she had a twin (though when that happened, she had no idea.) And Hayleigh had smuggled the girl in the house. Having two Hannah's in the house actually turned out to be useful.
She left the house just before dinner, after getting Alice to agree to go to dinner as her. She had slipped out of her window, the things in her backpack that she was returning. There was no way that she wanted her parents to know where she was going. Going to church was one thing, but she didn't want to admit that she was returning items she had once stolen.
As she approached the Church, it started to rain. Hannah managed to duck out of the rain, staring into the church. She swallowed, but reminded herself that this was the right thing to do. Slowly, she inched her way towards the front, and after looking around to make sure she was alone (as far as she could see, anyways,) she first fished the money out and dropped it in the collection plate. Then, going to the candles, she opened her backpack and pulled out the candlestick. As she placed it where it belonged, though, she heard a voice.
