Their budget was low. Ben had manipulated the numbers on his computer half a million times and still, it was low. They just couldn't afford to take the babies to Disneyland like they wanted to. Ben looked at his three year old and two year old boys. Ben sighed. They just couldn't afford it. But they did deserve a vacation. The year was rough for them, especially since bringing in Aidan. They owed it to themselves to do something.
Ben made a phone call and got Nathan to agree to watch the kids. He had talked it up and got them all excited to see Uncle Nathan. Now, he just needed to take Marco somewhere. Didn't he have family in Venice or something like that? Ben called a few people and they said come on over. He then got two tickets to Venice.
Ben walked into the room where Marco was. He had already told him that their budget was low, but he hadn't mentioned his lovely surprise. Walking up behind him, he wrapped his arms around his husband and kissed his neck. Without saying a word, he popped the tickets up in front of his face, grinning and watching for his reaction

Tapping away. That's what Marco was doing. He was tapping away and had been staring at a computer screen so hard that the words started to swim and merge together in front of him. When he went to rub his eyes, he suddenly felt arms around him and lips on his neck. He breathed out a happy sigh against him, but blinked when he saw tickets suddenly in his face. His hand reached out and he grabbed them to get a better look before his eyes widened. In an instant, he was up and turned around, clutching the tickets and staring at Ben. He knew the budget was low. And he figured that meant they wouldn't go anywhere. Things were rough lately. Though, he wouldn't necessarily have it any other way. When they took in Aidan, they took in a handful, but he was willing to accept that. He needed someone. He needed them. "Venice? We're going to Venice?" He asked, a sudden excitement taking over his dark eyes.
"Tell me this isn't some cruel joke, because I'm going to hit you if it is." He joked, feeling like hugging him. And well, he did hug him. He wrapped his arms around him. He wanted to get away. He felt like they deserved it and he didn't want to sit there and hope that maybe they'd get some kind of break. He wanted a break to come to them, but unfortunately, that wasn't happening... Well, until now. Now, it looked like it was very much going to happen. And he loved Italy. It was like a second home and he had too many relatives there to count. He really did.

Ben let him take the tickets, not saying a word. He flashed a smile and chuckled when Marco got all excited. "You didn't think we were going to get stuck staying home, did you?" No, no, no. Ben wouldn't do that! "You deserve this, Marco. Mr. Father of the Year." Ok, so Marco hadn't actually won anything. But in Ben's eyes, that was exactly what Marco was.
"I called Nathan, he said the kids could stay with him and Lorna for the week. It's just me and you. The boys are already excited about going to his house." He stopped talking long enough to kiss his husband. "It's just me and you. Just like old times." he rested his head against Marco's when he said that. He loved the boys, but he did miss the old times.
