Ashleigh was a perfectionist when it came to school. Now, she wasn't a straight A student. She got A's and B's. But she hated being late. Normally she would leave half an hour before she had to in the morning as to not be late to school. In between classes, she never socialized. She went straight to her locker and straight to class. She just never wanted to be late. AAnd the few times that she was late, she would apologize, but never made excuses.
When the final bell rang, Ashleigh gathered her belongings and headed to her locker. Her dad had only just gotten here the day before and she was more than excited. She'd really missed him. She grabbed what she needed in order to do her homework that night and headed outside.

"Turn left at 75th." A woman's voice stated in a monotone voice over the speaker on the GPS, causing Andre to glance at it with a frown. There it went again! Andre hadn't been on 75th once today. He never messed with the GPS in the rental car, but it insisted on continuously telling him to turn left over and over again. It had frustrated him to no end on the drive over, and he continuously pressed things and beat on it, but it never changed anything. Instead, he just nearly ran a red light twice and almost hit an SUV. Close calls, and all at the blame of that stupid voice repeating the same message over and over again. And now, he was parked. He was in the god damned parking lot and the thing was repeating itself. "Okay, I wasn't on 75th before and I'm not on it now, so shut up." And now he was talking to it again, as if it could hear him. He reached over and started to press buttons again, unsure of how it was supposed to work. There was one in his car at home, but he always kept it off. It wasn't that he was anti-technology or anything, but he memorized directions easily and didn't see the point of it. When it didn't work, he hit it again before groaning with annoyance. "If I had my gun..." Okay, so he probably would be in trouble with not only the rental place, but his superiors if he went firing his gun off on the GPS system. Annoyance wasn't a good reason for firing a round, but god, if he had one... It would be so tempting. "Turn left on..." Sighing, he looked up at the car ceiling hopelessly.
At least he was in the parking lot for a reason. Since he'd only gotten back the day before, he hadn't had a chance to see Ashleigh yet. Of course, he was excited to see her. He missed his daughter, and he really didn't know how he lasted that long without flying to Toronto to see both of them. It was as hard, if not harder than he expected to be without them for so long. When he looked back through the window, he saw her and smirked. Turning off the car and silencing the machine, he got out to walk her back to where he was parked. He crossed the parking lot to the sidewalk outside the exit of the building. "Hey, kiddo." He grinned, it was so good to see her again. And really, it felt like too long.

Ashleigh put her backpack over her shoulder and looked up when she heard her father's voice. "Daddy!" She wrapped her arms around him, giving him a hug. "I've missed you so much." And she did. She was always very close to him and always tried her absolute hardest to do the right thing. And she never let others talk her into anything that she knew was wrong. In fact, she couldn't really remember ever getting in trouble. The worst she'd probably ever did was miss her curfew by 15 minutes. And even that had been by complete accident.
"I'm glad you came home, daddy. You're staying, right?" She pulled away and looked up at him. She definetely wanted him to stay. She'd been away from him for to long and she really did need her dad here.

"I've missed you too," Andre admitted, hugging his daughter back. He hated being away from them. It was strange not seeing her everyday or being able to be there for her at any given moment. Of course, with work, it was difficult enough when he was there to keep up with everything. He tried though, and did a lot better than most. But, to actually have to be away... It was almost torture. While Andre's phone was always on in case one of them called because they needed something, it wasn't the same as physically being there. But now he was, and he wasn't planning on taking off or leaving them. And his husband would be right behind him. They could be a family again and Andre was really looking forward to that.
Nodding, he smiled. "Yeah, for good. You're stuck with me now, kid." He teased, but she looked like she wanted him there as much as he wanted to be there. "And today, it's just the two of us. So, anything you want to do, say it, or else we might be driving around in circles. Come on." He wanted to catch up with her and find out what had been going on with her. Hopefully, everything was okay. He didn't think otherwise. She was a good kid, and he trusted her to stay out of trouble. Starting to head back across the parking lot and to the dreaded rental car, he unlocked the doors with the remote, before walking around to the driver's side again.

Ashleigh couldn't help but smile. Her dad was staying! She was so happy. She never wanted him to be away from her again. She followed her dad to the car. "Anything? Anything at all?" She walked to the car and climbed into the passenger seat. "Could we go out for ice cream and maybe just talk?" That was one of her favorite things to do with her dad. She use to love doing that all the time with him. It was special to her. She loved hanging out with him.

He fired the car up with a turn of the key, relieved not to hear the GPS go off immediately. Oh, but give it time... He knew it would happen. It was like a prodding in the back of his mind, waiting to hear that stupid voice (could he change the voice? Andre didn't even know how to use the thing, so figuring that out might not be the easiest venture) again and cringe. "Anything," Andre assured her and as usual there was an invisible within reason tagged onto it. There were definitely things that they couldn't do, but he was sure she wasn't going to ask for something outlandish, like jumping ship to Disneyworld or something. Her suggestion was definitely within reason though, and Andre grinned. He liked that idea. It'd been a long time since they were able to do that, but it was more of a regular event before and he had a nagging suspicion that might be what she chose. "Of course, know any good places?" He asked, since she'd been in Toronto for a little while, he figured she might have identified different places to go. It wasn't as if Andre himself hadn't been there in too long, but he decided to leave the choosing up to her.
He pulled out of the parking lot and onto the street and as soon as he did, the voice filled the car again and he winced. There it went! "And hey, if you have any idea how to shut that up, let me know." He said gesturing to it, "It won't stop that, and I'm ready to tear it right out and you know, the rental place might have a problem with that—then your father might just kill me for the bill." He teased thoughtfully. He wasn't really going to tear up the car in hopes that it quieted. He would just deal with it. But, he figured he'd ask her; a fresh brain never hurt anything.

Of course, Ashleigh knew just the place too. "We could go to the Cold Stone Creamery. They have the best ice cream." She suggested, with a grin. She looked up to her dad before looking down at the GPS as it started going off. She shook her head and looked back up at her dad.
"Has it been saying that same thing over and over?" She asked softly, turning back to the machine. She began pressing buttons, trying to figure out how to turn the stupid thing off. "I bet you're really annoyed by it, huh daddy?"
