Three hundred dollars and seventy-five cents. That was how much Elena had accumulated from the few times she was allowed to work while in prison. With it, she was starting a savings and checking account. Consequently, she and Andre sat, waiting for someone to come and get her started. Elena looked at her older brother beside her. "You didn't have to come. I am capable of taking the bus," she said gently. Sometimes, she thought her brother was just a tad overprotective.
Elena was nervous. The last time she was here, she was arrested for robbery. Sighing, she chewed on her nails. When she caught a glance of a familiar man in the corner of her eye, she looked over and her eyes widened. A whirlwind of emotions she thought she was past came flooding at her. She felt her heart breaking all over again, and she blinked to fight back tears. It was Micah. Elena closed her eyes, trying to will herself to not cry. She didn't want him to see her, so she sank into the chair and put her hand to her forehead.

Micah was depositing a check into a group account; the type of account that would eventually have a cut of it being distributed to his own account. It was a pretty large amount of funds, though when split as many ways as it did and with some of it being put towards more tools to make their operation run smoothly, it felt like very little. It was a quick process and one that was over just as it started. With that, the young man took a step back and had started for the door when he spotted someone familiar amongst the crowd of faces. Elena. It had been years since he last saw her. Back when they robbed the bank and she took the fall. He never really had a chance to thank her for it, although, he sort of had. It was a long time ago and he supposed that she should have been getting out of prison pretty soon. He lost track after a little while. He moved on with his life. It was a shame she got caught, but what was he supposed to do? Clear her name? Take the fall? Right, he wasn't stupid. And that act, would have been foolish.
Seeing her there with her brother didn't deter him. It didn't matter that Andre was a cop or that he was also a lot more intimidating that Micah could be. He was never afraid of him. Because, he understood how the man worked. He had to go by the law, had to be restrained by the system, which meant no matter how badly he hated him, he could never be touched. Andre wouldn't hurt Micah, not unless he wanted to get into some trouble himself. After all, there was nothing that could lead to him. His entire livelihood was based around criminal activity, but he was smart and no one would ever put him away for it. It wasn't as if he was doing anything morally corrupt anyway. In his eyes, it wasn't bad. It was just against the law. Instead of shying away, he walked over. He still liked her fine. It wasn't as if he had ventured into hating her. Slowly walking over, he smirked. "Hey, Elena." He greeted. It was so casual, as if no time had passed. It was like she never went away. That was the danger in being close to someone like Micah. When it boiled down to it, he wouldn't always care when you wanted him to. He was in the game for himself.

"Yeah, yeah, you can ride the bus. Look at you." Andre teased his sister, knowing that she was capable of it but it didn't make him any less concerned. It didn't surpass him that there was danger in every city and that each one had its share of psychos and people that would love to hurt someone. But, this time around, psychos were getting a little too personal. As a detective, he always had to be careful of that. It was a risk from the start. However, Andre never had to be as concerned as he was this time and he had met up with plenty of psychopaths hellbent on blood. He wasn't letting his sister go out by herself too much. Besides, he wanted to make sure things ran smoothly. "Besides," he nudged her slightly with his elbow. "You know you want to spend time with me." And with that, he sat up a little straighter, plastering on a smug grin. He noticed a change in her, however and frowned when he witnessed it. "Hey, what's up?" He began, but the figure that caused it soon came into his line of sight and immediately his eyes narrowed.
Oh, Andre knew what the man looked like. What the hell was he still doing around? He had no doubt that he was probably the same criminal that he used to be. Those things didn't change. Unfortunately, he had nothing more than a hunch and nothing else. Who knew what he was up to? "If you're smart, you'll back off right now." He said sternly, ready to protect his sister if he had to. He didn't think he had any right to talk to her, especially not if he was going to waltz up like nothing ever happened. The guy was a real jack ass. He doubted he could even see himself as doing anything wrong.

Elena heard the question and shook her head. She couldn't say anything. She wanted to be invisible so Jack wouldn't see her. But she heard her name spoken aloud and her eyes opened. She looked up at Micah and tears were suddenly in her eyes. "Let's do this later," she told her brother, meaning the account. She stood up and folded her arms, looking at Micah. It wasn't the robbery that hurt her. She let herself take the fall, and she refused a deal. It was teh fact that he disappeared afterwards.
"me and you--never happened. I don't want to know you," the words came out in a low hiss. Elena never knew she was still angry. She had gone against her entire family for Micah. Well, never again. Fool her once, shame on you, fool her twice, shame on her. Elena would not allow herself to be fooled again.

"me and you--never happened. I don't want to know you,"
"Come on, baby, don't be like that," Micah didn't want her to stay angry with him. He didn't think she had any reason to. This was the way the world worked. And she couldn't expect him to hang around and visit her all the time. Once she was put into the system, he had to drop her. It was that simple and black and white to him. They had fun while it lasted and he did care about her. But years had passed and Micah thought she should be over it. She spent her time in prison and now she was out. By all means, she should be happy about that. And being as bold as he was, the young man stepped forward, and reached out a hand to touch her arm.
"It was five years ago, stop holding grudges." He had absolutely no regard for Andre. He wasn't afraid of him. He was taller than Micah, sure, but so were a lot of men, hell there were women taller than him. So, he really didn't have a strong intimidating factor going for him. Not to mention, he was a cop. Cops weren't scary unless they had something on you. Then, they were just good little puppies that followed the system perfectly. Micah didn't know Andre well, but from his experience with cops, he figured that was exactly what he was dealing with.

But, Andre—Andre was no puppy. Although, he couldn't necessarily shoot the guy like he would like to, he wasn't someone he could just cast off. He stood up with Elena, perfectly fine with handling the bank account later, but when Micah stepped forward and actually touched her, Andre pushed the man in the chest, not hard enough to make him stumble, but enough to stop him. "Back off, you touch her again, I'll throw you straight through that window." He said lowly, dark eyes hardening. He wasn't playing around either. Of course, he knew the repercussions for throwing someone through a window. But, he wasn't going to stand there and let him get closer and closer. The bastard didn't seem to understand when it was time to walk away. He shouldn't have ever approached her to begin with.
"Elena, come on," he said, not wanting to stick around and wait to see what happened. He would much rather walk out and leave the guy behind. And he didn't want his sister to be sucked into anything he had to say either. The guy was slime. There was nothing else to say about him. He was the one that deserved to be locked up, but there wasn't even anything he could do about that. Besides, anything he did was kind of out of what he dealt with. He thought he was a greasy little scam artist, not a killer. And there was a difference. Still, he knew murderers he liked more.

"I am not your baby!" she retorted as soon as he called her it. She used to be. He had been the world to her. When he touched her arm, she was ready to slap him, when her brother stepped in. "Andre." She actually stepped between the two. And then he wanted her to walk away? Oh, no. That was not happening. "You can go ahead. I'll be there in a minute" It might not be the wisest decision, but she wanted to take care of this herself.
She then turned to Micah. "I was going to marry you" she said, pushing him. "I robbed a bank for you" she pushed him again. "I love you!" She exclaimed, pushing him one last time. She didn't even notice that she used the present tense for that last one. "You lied to me!" He had claimed to care about her. People didn't just let the people they cared about go to prison. They just don't!
"you two need to take this outside" the manager had sent the security guard over, after Elena had raised her voice and disturbed the people doing transactions in the bank. Elena looked at the guard and back at Micah. "I hate you" she hissed. Actually, no, she didn't. She was still in love with him. But it seemed like a good thing to say.
