Megan was sick of being in this stupid room, this stupid hospital for the past two weeks. But now she was finally gonna be able to go back home. However, then she remembered what had happened that sent her here and realized that it could all happedn ago. So, she treied to beg the doctors to let her stay longer. She tried, and failed. It was time to go. But she had no idea what had happened the night before at tha dance. No idea. She didn't really listen to anyone anymore. She didn't want to. She wanted to spend her days alone.
With a sigh, Megan called a nurse in.
"Hello, dear. How are you today?"
Megan glared. "How do you think I am?" she retorted. She didn't mean to be like that. She was just testy and aggrivated. "I was wondering if you could bring my wheelchair over here. I have to get out of this bed."
The nurse nodded. "Of course, dear" And she grabbed the wheelchair, rolling it over. She began to try to help the teen get into it.
But Megan pushed her away. "Stop! I can do it myself." She swung her good leg over the side, grabbing onto the arm of the wheelchair, pulling herself into it. Before using her hand to shoo away the nurse. "You can leave now!" she spoke, rudely.
"Okay. Well, let me know if you need anything else."
"I'll have too! Does it fucking look like I can do anything by myself?! No, I didn't think so!"
The nurse nodded and headed out of the room.
"Yeah! Leave! I don't fucking need this place!!" Megan shook her head. She couldn't help it. She seemed to be angry at everyone and everything. Not to mention terrified inside. Terrified of leaving where she know he can't touch her.
She picked up the hospital phone that was in her room, and dialed her dad's cell. It rang and rang. But there was no answer. Just a beep, telling her to leave a message. "Damn it, dad!" she said, before slamming the phone down. She started to roll towards thew window, only to run into the corner of the bed. "Shit!"

There were lots of people in the waiting room last night. And when a storm hit, Shayne and Megan had been forced to separate from their version of the spring fling dance. She had been rushed into the cafeteria, and Shayne had hurried home, safe from the elements. But as it turned out, the storm wasn't nearly as dangerous as what happened in the high school. And when the storm finally ended at five in the morning, Shayne was informed that his sister was in the hospital, that she had been involved in a massacre and was lucky to have survived. He also found out that one of their teachers didn't survive, as well as a lot of students. It was bad. And all Shayne could do was go back to the hospital and wait, like the friends and family of everyone else who had been hurt.
It was a crowded mess, and Shayne couldn't even find his aunt and uncle in the crowd. Eventually, he fell asleep, from pure exhaustion. He woke up to a shrill scream. Jerking away, he asked the person near him what had happened, only to be told that someone was in pain from having nearly been killed. Well, that made sense. Shayne rubbed his eyes and stood up, asking the nurse about his sister. She said she couldn't disclose anything just yet.
He couldn't just wait around. He couldn't. He started walking around in the hospital. That was when he overheard a doctor saying that Megan Del Rossi would be released, as well as several other names he didn't recognize. That they could fill 10 rooms, and the rest would have to be transferred to another hospital.
Megan! He had completely forgotten! Running to the elevator, he pushed the button for her floor several times. As soon as he had arrived, he ran inside the room, just in time to see her hit the corner of the room. "Megan?" he shook his head, trying to look happy. Was it even possible? He walked over to her, straightening out her chair for her.

Megan shook her head. She felt on edge. She was aggrivated, testy. It wasn't anything personal. Maybe it was because she just did not really want to leave, to go back home. Maybe it was because deep down, she was scared. Nobody even knew the truth. Except Matt, of course. But that was it.
She looked up at Shayne as he walked in, sighing. "God, I hate this." she muttered as he helped her straighten her chair. Even the tone in her voice said that she was aggitated. Shaking her head, Megan looked up at Shayne, forcing a smile. Not because she didn't want him here. Megan was glad he was. It's just...she was so unhappy to have to go back out into the world.
"I can't get anyone on the phone." she shook her head. "I couldn't yesterday either. God. It's so damn frustrating. They should answer!" Megan bit her lip. "Sorry. I'm just-ugh. I don't know why I'm acting this way today." She looked to the window. "How are you?"

Shayne couldn't think about how she sounded. His sister....she was hurt. He had sworn to protect her. He promised Barney! Ok, so that was a long time ago, and it was in the mall right after his mommy had died. But still. How could this happen--his thoughts were cut off by her voice. Phone? What? "There was a storm, Megan. They probably don't have reception yet. I hear a few towers got knocked down."
He sat down on her bed, distracted by the shirt that was on the end of it. He ran his thumb across the cloth. Distracted by the material, he barely heard her ask how he was. Jumping up, he walked over to where her suitcase sat, waiting to be packed. He folded the shirt for her. "Me? I'm-I'm-I'm fine." liar. Yeah, he was lying. And it was pretty obvious. But he couldn't help it. There was no way he could tell her what had happened.

He was lying. That much Megan was sure of. But did she really want to know the truth? THe truth! She wasn't so sure. Megan was not to sure if she could, would, be able yo handle it. Not now. Not after what had happened to her. So she was not so sure that she should ask.
Just then a nurse walked in. "Do you need anything or have any questions before we discharge you?"
Megan just rolled her eyes. "No! I fucking don't! But I did ask to be left alone!" she growled, watching the nurse leave her room. She shook her head. "I hate the fucking staff here." she muttered.
Then she looked to Shayne. "But I don't wanna leave." she whispered, almost too quietly. She hardly heard herself. "I'm too scared to leave...."

Shayne winced, listening to her speak to the nurse. He nodded when she explained, acknowledging it more than anything. She wanted to stay here. But she couldn't. "There's too many people hurt. They already have to send some to another hospital" he whispered, not even noticing that he spoke aloud.
He could hear them call a code blue in ICU. Shayne could feel his skin trembling. "God, don't let that be February" he whispered. He was glad that his back was to her. He didn't want her to see him like this

Too many people were hurt? How did he know that? Megan swallowed. No. No, she did not want to know. Or maybe she was just to scared to ask. She was not so sure anymore. "S-Shayne?" Her voice was trmbling. Why was her voice trembling? "W-What's going on?"

Shayne shook his head "I should have been there. I could have got her out" he turned to face her, his hands shaking. "s-some people got out. L-ike the ones wh-who were hiding in the locker room....and-and the ones Mrs. St-Stone took to the Dot. But everyone else. Trapped. No way to get out. Doors locked. Just a man with a mask. She must have been so scared" tears streamed down his face, falling to his knees.
"She must have been so scared," he repeated. "sh-she had to see people get stabbed. She had-had to see Mrs. Manning d-" he closed his eyes. "They won't tell me where she is. So-so many people in the waiting room. So many in the ER. Can't keep track" he swallowed. He wasn't making any sense. He knew it. But he was ready to break down

Megan swallowed. "W-what?" No. She definetely could not handle this. Not one bit. It was too much for her to take in. Way too much. Her brain was put into overdrive and she stared off, invisioning it. No! No...It-it couldn't be. Not there. No. It was wrong. Bad. School should have been a safe haven...for all of them.
"Where-what about-" She shook her head, tears feeling her eyes. "Matt? Jessa?....H-Hayleigh? Where are they?! I need to know!" she cried. She rolled the chair over to the end table. She opened the draw and pulled out her cell phone. "No. No...No..." She tried dialing Matt's phone...Not that it would do any good. "They have to be okay. They have to!"

Shayne shook his head "I-I don't..." he drifted off. "I only saw a few of them. I--" he swallowed, closing his eyes. "I'm so sorry," he whispered. He shouldn't have bothered her. He really shouldn't have. This was so much. When she pulled out her phone, he swallowed. "Sorry," he whispered, standing up. He walked to the door and looked back at her.
give me your heart make it real or else forget about it that ringtone...He looked down the hall. "M-Megan?" he called to her, his voice quivering. "I. I think he's in there" he said, shaking his head "I should go"

Megan looked to Shayne, her eyes widened. She quickly closed her phone and instantly dropped it. "No..Not...Please tell me that he wasn't involved. Please-don't let it have been him that atta-" She looked away, the tears falling harder. This was all so much. "Please..." she whisppered, closing her eyes. "I can't-I don't-can't be-be alone-" Her breathing got heavier. She felt like she was having an anxiety attack.
Shaking her head, Megan moved backwards, heading towards the door. "I gotta-I have to-I should have been there. Not here. I should have been there!" She needed to see for herself. She had to know.

Shayne walked over and crouched in front of her "Megan. Look at me" he put his hand in her hair. "It's chaos out there. There's people who are hurt in the hallways. They're still putting names to people. I was with you, I don't know what happened. But if you really want to help, I think--" he swallowed.
"I think that you should just be discharged. Because they'll need this room. Believe me. I want to find February. I don't even know how bad she was hurt. But if you go out there now, you won't be able to think enough to find him." he leaned in and pressed his head against hers. "As far as I know, we only know one person who died. But I don't know. I haven't talked to anyone except my neighbor"

"Died...." Megan echoed. What if one of those dead were her siblings? She wouldn't be able to survive that. Where was her daddy? She needed her daddy. Did he even know? She swallowed, and nodded slightly. She knew that there was nothing she could do. Not now.
"Please...please...d-don't leave-" she whimpered, softly. "Can-can I-please-could I stay-s-stay with you?" she whimpered out. "I-I-I don't w-wanna be alone..." she didn't. She was scared. The night she was tortured was still fresh in her mind. And hearing about what happened last night scared her even more.

Shayne shook his head "I'm not leaving you. I will never leave you. That's a promise" he said and kissed her head. "We can go to a hotel. With security. Lots-lots of security. Just in case. It-it could be a psycho teacher or anything. And they didn't catch him"
he stepped out and closed his eyes. Oh god. If only he could shield her from what she was about to say. Turning back to her, he went behind her and put the brakes on her wheelchair "come on. I'll carry you. But promise me. If you can't handle it. Just close your eyes and hug me"

Megan was sure that she would not be able to handle it. Just like she couldn't handle anything anymore. She feared that it wasn't a teacher at all, but-- She shook her head and swallowed. "Okay...." she wiped away her tears. "I-I promise."
