Massie had only been living in this house a few short weeks. Now she was not at all sure if this would be permanent or not. But that did not matter much. She was sure that one day somebody would take her into their home. Would adopt her. It was just a matter of time. And that much, she knew. Okay, so maybe in her years of being in the system, the girl had not had much luck in being adopted. But at least it was not because of her. She had always been good in those foster homes. Most of the time, she only talked when spoken to. Never without permission. Why? She was not sure. It just seemed like the right thing to do. Massie had followed orders. She had never talked back or broken the rules. It was just who she was.
And being here was no different. She never did talk unless someone talked to her first. She was very quiet and most would probably think of the girl as shy. But that just was not true. She just did not, never wanted to, risk getting into any kind of trouble. Because that would jeopardize ever getting adopted.
With a sigh, Massie finally left her bedroom. It was Sunday morning and actually, she had been stuck up in her room all weekend. When she went downstairs, though, she saw nobody. And then she headed into the kitchen, grabbing herself a bottle of water from the fridge.

"No! get away from him!" Aaron yelped as he hit the right arrow button on his video game controller to make Yoshi run. Finally, he was able to pop the bubble and get baby Mario safely back on Yoshi's back. This is what he did on Sundays. Well, up until 5. They always went to the meetings on Sunday evenings at 6:00, and he would have to eat and get dressed for it
He heard someone come out of a room and knew it was either Audrey or Massie, since his dad wasn't home. "There's pizza in the bottom shelf!" he called to whoever it was. "die, die, DIE!" he yelled, killing the bad guy for the level. "haha! I am unstoppable!"

Massie looked towards the living room, biting down on her bottom lip. She walked to where the bottom shelf and opened the box. SHe grabbed a paper plate and put two pieces on te plate. She didn't even bother heating it up. She then walked into the living room and sat down in the chair, staring at the tv screen. She took a bite, but stayed completely silent.

Alan took a drink of his soda before looking at her "hey. Massie, right?" he asked as he set his cup down and hit enter. "You ever play video games in your group homes?" he asked, curiously. He had never been in foster care before, so he didn't know if they had video games or whatever

Massie looked down, biting her lip. "I-I don't know. I've never played video games alot. I-I usually kept to myself." It was hard to play video games. With how her mother was. With her concentration on only school things. She never had a whole lot of time for fun.

Alan kept his eyes on the tv as Yoshi entered a castle. "yeah? So what do you do for fun?" he asked her. Get to know her. That was what his dad has asked him to do. And he had promised to do it. "Were you a crossword type of girl? Or solitare maybe?"
