Hannah had made it to the zoo, and that was it. When she woke up the next day, she had decided that it was going to be different. It was Sunday, and the start of a new week. She had gotten up, fairly happy, and had taken her medicine and gotten some cereal. She had stepped outside, and then froze in fear. She saw a neighbor, who she thought was really creepy. He raised his hand to wave at her, and she turned and ran back inside, slamming the door and pressing her back flat against the door, closing her eyes. She couldn't do it.
Hannah turned and locked the door before going in the living room. She sat on the floor in front of the couch and turned on the tv. Her sweats lay loose on her, since her baby was cut out of her. Hannah flipped through the channels and spotted something on the news. She frowned and turned up the volume. Another body was found. The reporter talked about the scar, and Hannah reached back and felt her own. She shook her head and wanted to turn it off, but she couldn't. Her eyes were glued to it. They showed the body, bringing tears to her eyes. She sat there sobbing as she watched what should have been her fate...but she couldn't turn it off.

Jessa had gotten up rather early. For some reason, she just couldn't sleep. It was hard to imagine her sister going through what she had. How could anybody do something so awful? How could anybody be so cruel as to want to torture and kill other human beings? It made absolutely no sense. Ever since she heard about what had happened, Jessa had been having trouble sleeping. She worried for her big sister. She worried that someone might try and to finish the job next time. She never wanted anything bad to ever happen to her sister.
After awhile, Jessa had left her bedroom, took a shower and headed downstairs. She noticed Hannah in the living room, watching tv. Walking in, she sat down next to Hannah. Seeing what she was watching, Jessa couldn't help but shudder. "You should watch something more happy than this?" she commented, softly, turning to look at her big sister.

Hannah swallowed. "I was supposed to be like that," she said and pointed to the television. She did turn it off, though, and look up at Jessa. "I can't see his face. I-I want to. He took off his mask, but I can't remember anything about his face. And Andre....he needs to know what he looks like so he can catch him. Why can't I remember?"
If Hannah was asked to describe how she felt about not remembering the man's face, it would be guilt. She felt like she was getting in Andre's way. She was getting in everybody's way. All she did was mope around. The teenager was full of angst and she couldn't control it. But she felt like she was annoying her family by being this way.

Jessa looked towards the tv, before looking back to her sister. "Don't say that. You shouldn't be like them." she spoke softly, listening to her sister. "I wish that I knew why you couldn't remember and I wish more than anything that I could help you remember..." She bit her bottom lip, and looked downward. "I hate seeing you like this. It's not like you. But, you know...you can't be scared of life. This experience, it could make you stronger. You're really lucky...you survived, Hannah. And everyone is happy to just have you alive."

Hannah looked down. "He took my baby." She whispered it out. She had told everyone that she wanted an abortion. Nothing positive came out at all. But that night, everything changed. That night, she wanted to take it and be a good mother. And that night, he was taken from her. "H-he took Marco. That-that was gonna be his name, you know. After the man who means everything to me." She stood up and left the living room, going in the kitchen.
"I'm not strong, Jessa. I can't-I can't be strong. I'm sorry." And there went the apology again. Hannah must have uttered those words a million times since last Saturday night. "All I wanted was to be a good daughter. Ben already hates me. I didn't want daddy to regret taking me too." She bit her lip and looked down. "I don't want anyone to hate me, Jessa. And all I ever did was hurt people. Except you cause it's impossible to hurt you. Maybe I deserved this"

Jessa bit her lip and followed her sister into the kitchen. "Don't be sorry. None of this is your fault. And you don't always have to be strong. Daddy's proud of you no matter what you do. You know why? Because he loves you. He loves all his kids. There's nothing we can do to make him hate us." She looked to her sister. ""I'm proud of you. And I'm happy...happy that he didn't kill you. You mean so much to this family. And it just wouldn't be the same without you. You're a great sister and wonderful daughter. And-I know that you would have made a wonderful mother."

Hannah smiled a little. "Thanks, Jessa. That means alot," she said and it really did. She looked down and started fiddling with her shirt. "I-I never thought I would love you guys as much as I do. When I came, I figured it would be temporary." She looked back at her. "I said some really awful things to Jason and Chance. And then when he attacked...I called Chance. He didn't even hesitate; he got me help. You know, when he first got here, he told me that even though he didn't know me that well, he loved me. I didn't believe him until he saved my life. Is that terrible of me?"
Hannah never outright called Chance a liar. She simply didn't think it was possible to love a sibling that you barely knew. Especially one that was not biologically connected. She thought he could have liked her...maybe. But not love. She had heard Andre say once or twice that you can't choose your family. But Marco and Ben chose their entire family. It was...nice.

Jessa shook her head. "No, that's not terrible. It's understanding. I mean, how can someone love another when they don't know eachother? But...you just can't help it. I liked you the moment you came into this family." She smiled softly. "You're a wonderful person who's had some hard times. But...as we get older, we mature. And you're not the same girl who came here the first time. You've changed, and for the better. At least, I believe so."

Hannah thought back to that first day, four years ago. She had been perfectly awful to all of them. With a scoff, she shook her head. "Nobody likes me the first day." And they weren't supposed to like her. It would defeat the whole purpose if they liked her. She didn't see how she changed, either. As far as she could tell, she was the same heartless bitch up until she was attacked on Saturday night.

Jessa looked down. "Maybe. But I did. I see through people. Or, at least, I try to. I try to believe that everybody has good in them. But, I also thought it was cool how you could defend yourself and you were so strong...I liked that." Jessa looked back to Hannah. "Everything will be okay...with time. It will get easier."

Hannah bit her lip and shook her head. "He tried to kill me, Jessa. That will never be easier. I wish...I wish that I could not feel anything." She sighed and folded her arms. "You know what? Maybe I'll go back to bed. I'm sorry." Sorry for what? Hannah wasn't even too sure. Sorry for something, for anything...for everything.

Jessa shook her head. "No, Hannah. You have no reason to be sorry. What happened to you, it wasn't your fault. You know that, right? And you didn't deserve it." Jessa bit her lip and stood up. "Would you like me to get you anything? Some tea, water? I could make you some breakfast, if you want. I'll take care of you. I promise."

"I had breakfast." she whispered. What Jessa said went in one ear and out the other. Wasn't it her fault? Everyone in the family knew what kind of person she was. They reminded her of it,especially Megan. Hannah didn't know how the older siblings would react, especially Jason. She thought he might figure that it was karma. And Miranda...she had been terrible to her sister. Wouldn't she think that Hannah deserved it?

Jessa sat down beside her older sister and looked at her. "Okay. So no breakfast. But do you want me to get you anything? Anything at all? What do you need?" She just wanted to help her sister. She wanted to be there for Hannah. She sighed. "If I could, I would just take all of your pain away. You know? I would die for you. I'll always be here for you."

Hannah looked down. What did she need? "Forgiveness," she whispered. "N-not just from you. From everyone....from God." she hugged herself. She had never felt quite like this before. But she suddenly knew what she wanted and needed. Hannah walked over to the window and looked out. Closing her eyes, she looked back at her.
"C-do you think that, uhm" she took a breath "you c-could call Jason? m-maybe ask i-if we could uhm go to...t-to Church?" It was an odd request, coming from her. Despite Marco being a Catholic, Hannah had never had any interest in God before. She just never cared...before now.
