Megan walked to the center with her brother. Why was she doing this again? She didn't want to go anymore. But Matt convinced her to go. However, she stopped at the entrance and looked to her brother, shaking her head. "Matt..." she whispered. "I change my mind. I just can't do this. Not anymore." She began snapping her band subconsciously. Megan
didn't even realize that she was doing it. "Look, this is just a mistake. Face it, nothing can help me. Can't we just go back home, Mattie? Please?"
With Ellie being drunk and all, Elizabeth thought that somebody should take care of her kids. A week ago, Elizabeth had caught Lily in the bathroom cutting. So, she decided to take the young 15 year old girl to counseling. As she pulled into a parking spot, Lizzie got out of the car.
Marissa sat in the car with her dad. She never said a word. What could she say really? Marissa didn't want to do this. She didn't want to go to some group, with several other kids from school, and talk to a complete stranger. She stared out the window, lost in her own thoughts. And when they got there, Marissa didn’t bother getting out of the car.
Darcy knew that Hannah had some problems, and that the girl should be in group. She didn't even tell her where they were even going. That is until Darcy pulled up to the building and parked. "Come on, kid."
-------------------------
“You changed your mind, huh? Sorry, kid, but you’re not in charge. Now, sit down, before I ground you.”
Lily did not want to be here, so she didn’t get out of the car. Staying right where she was, she folded her arms. “No. I can’t do this.”
Of course, it didn’t take pulling teeth to get Melissa and Jenna to go to the group session. The two girls went inside the room and sat in to opposite corners.
Craig looked down at Marissa. He unlocked the car, and leaned over and opened the door for her. “There ya go, Munchkin.”
Hannah looked up. “Where are we?”
----------------------
Megan folded her arms and sat down, staring down at the floor. “Fine, but don’t expect me to say anything.” She shook her head. “I don’t belong here, Matt. I’m not the same girl as when I first started coming here.” She started to snap her band harder than before.
Walking to the passenger side, Elizabeth opened the door. “Yes, you can do this. Come on, kid.”
Marissa looked over at the building, but still didn’t get out of the car. “No, daddy. I-I can’t do this.” She whispered.
“We’re at group.” Darcy looked to Hannah. “Marco told me about your cutting. I think this will be good for you, Hannah.”
-------------------------
Matt rolled his eyes. “Yes, your highness.” He teased her. “And that’s exactly why you belong here.” He said, putting a hand on her shoulder. “It’ll be okay.”
Lily shook her head. “No. You don’t see my mom going to therapy and she needs it more than I do.” Lily folded her arms, not about to go inside.
Craig looked at her. “You know, I used to go to it when I was your age.”
Hannah glared at Darcy. “And how would you know?”
-----------------------
Megan closed her eyes for a moment, shaking her head. “How can you say that? I mean, how do you know things will be okay?” She sighed, and looked back down at the floor. “Nothing will be okay, Matt.” She spoke, quietly, with a shrug.
Elizabeth shook her head. “She’s an adult. You’re a child, and you have no choice in this.”
Marissa looked over at her dad. “I know, daddy. But you’re stronger than I am. How can I possibly talk about what I’m even going through with other people around me?” She shook her head, and looked down at the floorboard.
“I went to group when I was a kid. I know what you’re going through, Hannah.”
-----------------------
Matt rolled his eyes "yeah, sure, keep telling yourself that. In the meantime, sit down"
Lily shook her head "you can't make me go in there. It's kidnapping. You're not even my mother"
"Don’t" he said simply "just be there. And listen"
"I'm sure you do" Hannah said sarcastically
--------------------
Megan rolled her eyes and sat down. She blinked back tears, as she started to snap her band on her wrist again. “You just don’t understand. You’ve had it easy your whole life.”
“No. It’s not. It’s called helping your mother out. Now get out of my car.: Elizabeth told Lily.
Marissa nodded. “Okay, daddy.” She whispered, as she looked to her dad. “You’re gonna come in to aren’t you? I don’t wanna go in alone.”
“I used to cut myself when I was your age. Group really helped me though.”
----------------------
"Whatever you say, Megan" Matt said as he sat beside her
Lily rolled her eyes “my mother would never force me to come here" she informed her, standing up and getting out
Craig nodded "I'll come in. I wouldn't leave you" he assured her
"I'm sure you had just a terrible childhood with a white picket fence. What's the matter, did you dad forget to give you a tire swing?" she taunted as she got out and started walking away.
---------------------------
Megan bit down on her bottom lip, and looked down at the floor. “It used to be so easy coming to these. So…why’s it suddenly so hard for me?”
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “Well, your mother is too much of an alcoholic to pay attention. So, I’m dealing with it. Now, move it.”
Marissa smiled, weakly. Sure, she wanted to be anywhere but here right now, but she wasn’t gonna argue. That would be pointless. Marissa got out of the car, shutting the door behind her. She looked up at the building, but stayed were she was at.
Darcy got out and grabbed Hannah’s arm. “Bad things happened to me too. Things had gotten pretty bad when I’d been raped. I even tried to kill myself. Then when the same guy raped a friend of mine, I got really pissed off. I ended up running him over, killing him instantly.”
--------------------------
"Because you suddenly really need it" he said simply
Lil glared "don't you talk about my mama that way!" she hissed at Elizabeth
Craig followed Marissa, his hand on her shoulder to encourage her
Hannah went quiet and she looked down ".....so you've killed people too?"
---------------------
“Really need it. Yeah. I guess.” Megan shook her head and looked around the room, blinking back tears. “I feel so messed up. I don’t know how to deal with anything anymore.” She sighed and looked down at the floor.
Elizabeth took a firm hold of Lily’s arm. “Well, I’ll be dealing with your mom next, but right now, I need to make sure that you’re safe.”
Marssa bit her bottom lip. After a moment, without saying a word, she walked with her dad into the building.
Darcy nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, I did. And sure, maybe he deserved it, but really, that doesn’t make it right.”
-------------------------
Matt put his arm around Megan's shoulders "I know. And that's why we're here"
Lily glared "and what are you gonna do if I don't?" she snapped
Craig followed her in and sat down, nodding uneasily to all the little teeny boppers who were smiling at him "...hi"
Hannah sighed and went quiet, not saying a word. For once, she didn't have an answer to that
-----------------------
Megan looked up at her brother and nodded. “I know. It’s the right place to be, right? I am so tired of this girl I’ve become.” She grew quiet and looked around the room.
Elizabeth smirked. “You better watch it. I am a doctor and I can get you a quick ticket to the psychiatric unit if you’re not careful.”
Marissa sat down and watched as a few kids were looking at her father. She bit her bottom lip. Marissa loved her dad, but she hated this. She hated the way kids acted around her father. It drove her nuts. She sighed and looked down, staying quiet.
“Just give it a shot, Hannah. Okay?”
didn't even realize that she was doing it. "Look, this is just a mistake. Face it, nothing can help me. Can't we just go back home, Mattie? Please?"
