It was around 8 o'clock at night, and Marissa had just gotten home. Since Annalea was a good friend of hers, Marissa had been over at the girls house, trying to get her to remember anything. But with no luck. Walking through the front door, she called out, "Mom! Keegan! You guys You guys home!" But there was no answer. Setting her bag down near the front door, Marissa headed into the kitchen. She found a note stating that the two went out for awhile. So Marissa grabbed a soda from the fridge and went up to her bedroom.
Turning on her radio softly, Marissa layed down on her bed. There was alot on her mind. And the whole ordeal with Nikki? Whether Matt knew or not, it wouldn't change what she had done with him. And Marissa hated herself for it. Deciding to try and forget about it, Marissa grabbed her English notebook and brought Microsoft Word up on her computer.

JJ was pissed. First, Matt had to go and push him over a trashcan, and then he ruined his relationship with Charlie. He never stopped to think that it was his own fault that she broke up with him. Oh no. JJ wanted to get him back, and he had a plan. He was going to use Marissa. He also had not thought about how that was going to make her feel, and he probably wouldn't have cared anyway.
JJ had overheard Matt mentioning that he was gonna purpose to Marissa. He also said that he was gonna to do it that evening. But not if JJ intervened.
JJ was on a mission. He was going to break them up. And he was going to do it as painfully for Matt as possible.
He strolled up to the front porch and rang the doorbell. In his hand was bouquet of roses. Instead of trying to give them to the girl who actually deserved them, he choose to use them to charm the girlfriend of his worst enemy.

Hearing a knock on her front door, Marissa turned off her radio and walked downstairs. She opened the front door, only to find JJ there. She noticed the roses, and Marissa narrowed her eyes. "What are you doing here?" She spoke. Her tone of voice was a bit harsh.

JJ eyed his ex girlfriend. If there was anything to say about the way JJ worked, it was that he did things thoroughly the details of his actions. For example, he knew that the only way to get Marissa to do anything was if he could actually convince her that he still had feelings for her. This meant that he would have to put on a very elaborate show. Saying that, JJ got down on one knee, held the roses up toward her, and said:
"Oh raven-haired fair maiden With skin white as snow I brought you these roses..."
JJ struggled with the last line, before grinning sexily and adding "Don't you know?"

Marissa just folded her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes. "JJ, get up. I really don't care what you have to say." In truth, Marissa was completely over JJ. Not to mention that she didn't buy into his charm at all. "Is this really why you're here? Because, honestly, I don't think it is."

JJ gave her an innocent. "We both know that you know the truth about me, Marissa. You know I'm a lot more than just a bully." He took a step forward and put his hands on her waist. "I miss this, Marissa. I miss being able to really talk."

Marissa just glared at him. Shaking her head, she replied, "No, JJ. You just can't treat me like crap and then come here, acting this way. Look, I did love you. As in past tense. But, guess what? I don't care about you anymore. You mean nothing to me. Nothing. I have Matt now. He means everything to me. It's him that I love." And she gently shoved him away from her.

JJ stopped. "Everyone knows the reason why a guy would treat a girl like that. It's only when she's really in his heart." When she mentioned Matt, JJ felt like rolling his eyes, but he managed to reframe. "Doesn't the bible tell you to love everybody." he asked her.
Meanwhile, Matt had picked up a dozen white roses, and was on his way to Marissa's house to purpose.
JJ knew that he was running out of time, so he decided to rap things up. Especially when he started hearing footsteps coming up the street. Sighing, he said dramatically "I have to do this. I'll never forgive myself if I don't." He wrapped his arms around her waist, and pulled her into a kiss.
Matt got there just in time to see the kiss. Feeling his heart drop into his stomach, he doesn't not to interupt the two lovebirds. Instead, he set the flowers down at the bottom of the steps that led to Marissa's house and walked away. He didn't feel like going home because there were to many people there and he wanted to be alone. So instead, he went to a spot that he'd been going to since he was old enough to walk around town by himself. He went into the park, where in the center was a small underground garden. He went inside the garden, sat by the well, and let himself cry.

When JJ kissed her, she had instantly pushed him away. "Don't ever do that again! I don't care what the bible says! I could never love or even care about some one who ever treated me the way you do. JJ, I hate you! If you really loved me, you wouldn't have ever hurt me like you have! Just--go away!"

JJ took a step back and in the corner of his eye saw the other flowers. Laughing evilly, he says, "Fine. Have fun being dumped by your boyfriend." Pressing her against the front door, he leaned in, said in a very sensual tone, "You were a good doormat while it lasted." He then forced a kissed onto her mouth, pulled away and backed away, saying, "I'll see you at school." with a aggressive tone to it. With a job well done, JJ left the house, dumped the roses in a nearby trashcan and ended for the ravine.

Marissa wouldn't lie. She was scared. But she was never really one to want to let that person know that she was scared. And when JJ finally left, she was definetely glad. But what had JJ meant by Matt dumping her? She looked around, noticing the flowers. She walked over and picked them up. She knew that Matt must have saw.
Marissa decided to check the first place that Matt would most likely go to. The small underground garden at the park. So that was where she went. Walking into the garden, Marissa saw Matt, crying. And seeing him cry like that broke Marissa's heart. She hated to see him like that"Matt?" she crawled.

Matt stared straight down at the ground, refusing to look up at her. He couldn't bare to see her face, not after what he saw. "You know, it's funny how wrong you can be about somebody. I mean, you can think that they're one thing, and they turn out to be the exact opposite."

Marissa walked closer to him, and stood right in front of him. "Matt, I don't know what you saw. But it's not what you think. Please. You gotta believe that. I would never want to hurt her. I love you, Matt." And those three words she had never spoken to him before.

Slowly Matt's head rose, until his eyes met hers. He was glaring at her, giving her the coldest look he had ever giver her. "Bullshit!" he snapped at her. Standing up, he put his hands on his shoulders and pushed down on her until she sat down. "You would never hurt me?? Then why did I have to see you kissing JJ?" His voice was quivering, and he raised it louder. "And why did I have to hear from my cousin how much of a slut you are because you slept with him, and thought you were pregnant?!"

At those words, Marissa began crying. "He used me Matt, I swear. He forced a kiss on me. I didn't want him too. He even threaten me. And Nikki? I--" She looked down at the ground, still crying. "It was stupid. It should never have happened. And I hate myself for it. I regret it every single day. I really don't know what to say. Except that I'm sorry."
