Matt.... I am so sorry. Nothing I can say can ever justify what I did to you. I really did never want to hurt you. I think you may have even been my soul mate. I guess I screwed-up, though. That's all I ever do. You can do better than me...better than some anorexic loser like myself. I can't even blame you for hating me. Afterall, even I hate myself. I don't even want to get better. What's the point? Without you, I'm just...I'm completely lost. It's true what they say, you know. You never know what you have until you lose it. Maybe someday you can forgive me. Even if we never see eachother again. I do love you, even if you don't love me anymore. Here's your ring back. Maybe you can get your money back for it. Or...keep the ring and give it to some other lucky girl. I guess this is goodbye, though. You won't be hearing from me again. Maybe if I'm lucky, this stupid illness will kill me, because without you...I don't think I can find the strength to even live. Marissa
She had put it into an envelope and stuck the ring that was given to her inside as well.
Marissa walked to Matt's house, the letter in one hand, her guitar in the other. How she managed to get away from her dad for a while was beyond her. She stuck the letter into the mailbox. After that, Marissa went to the park and sat down on the bench. She sat there for quite a while before pulling out her guitar. She strummed the strings and began singing the first song that came to her head.
"I like the way you wanted me Every night for so long baby I like the way you needed me Every time that things got rocky
I was believing in you Was I mistaken do you mean Do you mean what you say When you say our love could last forever
But I'd rather you be mean than love and lie I'd rather hear the truth than have to say goodbye I'd rather take a blow at least then I would know But baby don't you break my heart slow
I like the way you'd hold me Every night for so long baby I like the way you'd sing to me Every time that things got rocky
I was believing in you Was I mistaken do you say Do you say what you mean When you say our love could last forever
Cause I'd rather you be mean than love and lie I'd rather hear the truth than have to say goodbye I'd rather take a blow at least then I would know But baby don't you break my heart slow
You would run around and lead me on forever While I stay at home still thinking we're together I wanted our love to last forever
But I'd rather you be mean than love and lie I'd rather hear the truth than have to say goodbye And I'd rather take a blow at least then I would know But baby don't you break my heart slow Baby don't you break my heart slow"
By the end of the song, though, Marissa was in tears. She accidently dropped her guitar to the ground, not even caring really. She just wanted her Matt back. She wanted her brother too. She loved them both and they were everything to her. And now? She just felt completely lost. She brought her knees up to her chest, and started to completely break down. The first time in weeks. She hadn't since Scott was in a coma, only because she wanted to be strong for everyone else. And Matt? She had been afraid that if she had started to cry, than she might not be able to stop.

Willow was on her way home when she saw Marissa. She glared and decided to approach her. "where's your lapdog?" she asked her, meaning Matt

Marissa couldn't stop her tears from falling. "He's not my lapdog. We're not even together." Marissa replied, softly. "Just leave me alone."

"well that explains why I saw him at Alexis's place. You know, I really like Alexis. I'm planning on hooking the two up" she said, flipping her hair

Marissa sniffed. She could feel her heart breaking. "Whatever. Just-do-do whatever. I don't care. It's-it's not-like we're teogether anymore."

"aww, don't worry Marissa. One day you'll find someone who is totally turned on by trailer trash" she said with a false comforting tone "I mean, look at Coach Brooks. You definitely have his eye. He's always bragging about how you're one of his favorite students"

Marissa shook her head. She couldn't deal with this right now. "Just leave me alone." she whimpered. "I can't deal with this right now." Marissa wiped her eyes.

"oh, I totally know what you mean. I mean, Mr. Sawyer's had a crush on me for like forever. It can be flattering but overwhelming" she sounded sincere, even though she wasn't "and of course you don't want to get him into trouble"

Marissa shook her head. "Don't. I don't like him that way. I would-I would never. I love-" She stopped. She couldn't say Matt's name. She did love him, even if he didn't love her anymore. "Go away." she finally hissed at her.

"hey. It's ok. Every girl has a crush on a teacher at some point" she said. Oh, she was using her acting skills now, she was acting like she cared

Willow stood in her way, blocking her "excuse me. We're not done until I say we're done"
