It had been two years since 11-year-old Megan and 9-year-old Hayleigh were put into foster care. Why were they foster kids? Their father was extremely abusive. And he had killed their mother. For the past two years, the sisters were bouncing from one foster home to another almost every three months.
Megan remembered when they were first put into the system. Hayleigh was just 7. And they tried to seperate the two sisters. In fact, for the past two years, they had been seperated. But finally, a foster home had been found that would take both sisters.
The car pulled up in front of the Del Rossi's and the girls case worker stepped out of the car. "Here we are girls."
Megan got out of the car, clutching onto her duffle bag. She wore her mother's locket. Inside was a picture of her mother and another one of Megan with her mother. "Come on, Hayls."
The case worker led the two young girls up to the front door and knocked. To be honest, Megan didn't expect to stay here. No one else wanted to adopt her, either. They always thought of her as a trouble-maker. Why should Ben and Marco be any different?

As the knock on the door came, Aidan was the first one to the door, trying hard to see out. He jumped up and down, before he finally ran and pulled a chair over instead. He was just curious. They'd already been told about the two foster kids that were coming to live with them. There'd been a long talk about it actually and he was both curious and excited at the same time. He put the chair up to the door so he could try to look out the peephole. "I can't see!" He whimpered, being too short to actually see out of it.
"You don't need to, get down from there," Marco said and pulled the ten year old boy down off the chair and moved the chair to the side. He had a feeling he knew who it was. Since, they were expecting them about now. Once he had Aidan out of the way, he opened up the door for them.

Matt was a mischevious 11 year old; he liked to scare girls. And what better to scare them with than a snake? It wasn't dangerous; just a small garner snake he grabbed from the field behind their house. He was playing in the backyard when he heard the car. Going around to the front, he saw the girls. Running to them, he said "hi! I'm Matt! I have a present for ya!" and with that, he produced his snake and held it out close to them

The girls case worker smiled, softly. "Hello Mr. Del Rossi. Here are the two foster kids. This is Megan and her younger sister, Hayleigh." she replied, pointing at who was who.
But as Matt came up, showing the snake, Megan screamed, jumping back a little, behind her case worker. Ever since she was little, she'd actually been afraid of snakes.
Hayleigh, who was 9 and younger than her sister, really didn't mind snakes or any reptiles at all. She just giggled at how her sister acted. No, Hayleigh may not have been afraid of snakes, but she was afraid of spiders.

Marco nodded to the caseworker and he was about to address the girls when Matt decided to introduce himself and a snake. "Matt." He scolded a little. "Put the snake away." He didn't want him scaring the girl right away. Then, he opened the door a little wider, "You guys want to come in?" Marco asked.

Matt gave an innocent look "it won't bite" he insisted, but did set it down and watched it slither away. He then decided that Hayleigh should have been scared and walked over to her "yeah, come on in. We're gonna show you lots of cool stuff! Like our video games!" he had put his hand in his pocket and then as he said this, he put his hand on her shoulder, setting a beetle on it discretely

Of course, Megan was scared. But that wasn't unusual. She tended to get scared quite easily. She smiled, softly, and walked out from being her case worker. Megan walked inside and looked around. "You own a very nice place here." she complimented politely.
Hayleigh wasn't scared of snakes. Her last foster home, their son had had a pet snake. But other kinda bugs she was. When Halyleigh walked into the house, she noticed the bug and screamed.

Aidan studied Megan and Hayleigh. When Hayleigh screamed at the bug, he giggled to himself, but didn't say anything. He was scared of most bugs too, but it was funny when someone else was afraid of them.
"Thank you--" Marco was cut off by the sudden scream and looked at the little girl, confused. "What's wrong?" He asked, concerned, having not noticed the bug, so he didn't know what she was screaming about.

Matt looked away as if he had done nothing. Hey, he was just welcoming them! And, in a way, letting them know who was boss. Matt couldn't have them thinking they could just do anything they wanted. He and Aidan ruled the house, and they had to be educated of that.
