Matt was tired of this. He was tired of having to hide under his bed so Jonathon would think he wasn't home. He was tired of crying because Hayleigh and Jonathon were both gone, and he knew what that meant. He was tired of the shouting matches between Ben and Jonathon when Ben was brave enough to shout back, and the sudden crashes and then silence stifling tears when Jonathon had enough of his father's mouth. Ever since that night, Matt was suddenly keenly aware of what was going on, more aware than he wanted to be. He was less aware of the Ryker kids, but every so often, he did know. And it needed to end. Their parents belonged together. Everyone knew that. Hell, even the Ryker kids knew it. And if they couldn't rely on the adults to mend their marriage, then he thought it was up to the kids. After all, there were enough of them.
He had run into Hannah on his way home from school, and he told her of the plan. Hannah was nervous, since Ben had kicked her out, but she did agree that it needed to be done. The two of them entered the house and Matt went up stairs after texting Jessa and asking her to come over, banging on first Hayleigh, then Megan's door. "It's me!" he called, so they knew it wasn't the evil bastard home early. He folded his arms and walked to the center of the hallway "I need you guys downstairs! It's important"
Hannah folded her arms as she stood in the living room, watching her brother. "I should call Chance" she decided, pulling out her cell phone. She bit her lip and dialed her brother's phone. Hannah didn't know what all Chance and Jason knew about their situation. She only knew because Jonathon had tried to attack her. Hannah had run away, but she hadn't said anything. She thought that she and Megan were the only ones. Then again, apparently everyone thought they were the only ones. She wasn't going to take the responsibility of telling her brother, however. Instead, she was simply going to tell them the plan. She listened for Chance's reply as she kept her eyes on the staircase

Chance hated cabs. Loathed them, as if they were the alliance and he was a browncoat. And like the jock that would have thrown him in a dumpster for being so nerdy and considering a firefly reference when measuring his level of hatred for cabs. Though, a dumb jock with bad taste in television probably wouldn't have seen the show that defined a lot of the geekier population, so maybe it wouldn't be understood. Either way, he would have been in a dumpster and hating it, but actually dumpsters were better than cabs. His mind was racing, and he quickly handed his cash over to the driver and got out of the car. He missed his car and he missed having more money than what was stuck in his wallet. It was his own fault, of course. And he wasn't filling up his bank account very fast. The short time he spent in Africa after he came home again hadn't given him much. Just enough for him to waste on stupid cabs.
He quickly got out and onto the sidewalk, just as his phone went off. Quickly fishing it out of his pocket, he looked down at the name before answering it. "Hey, Hannah, what's up?" He asked, sidestepping quickly to avoid walking into someone that was walking in the opposite direction but on the same side of the sidewalk. He'd been out most of the day, unsure of what precisely he was doing. A part of him wanted to job search, while the other, just wanted to visit shops and look at things through a tourist's eyes, even though he lived in Toronto pretty much all of his life. He was trying to keep his mind focused on trifle things and nothing else. And he was well aware that it was no way to deal with anything, but at the same time, he didn't care.

Jessa really did hate school right now. More than she ever hated it before. Ever since she was hurt at the dance. She was probably an idiot for risking her own life to save others. An idiot. Risking it for people she hated, people she could not stand....people whom she bullied. But what else could she do? She was the only kid in the entire school who would not be able to feel the pain. And, okay, some thought of her as a hero. A hero? Seriously? She hated being called that. Hated it! Being a hero was almost the death of her. It had almost killed her. Just because the bastard figured out that this particular 15-year-old could not feel the pain. Not one bit. She had tried to make believe that she could feel it. So then, maybe it would not get so bad. But honestly? Faking pain....it was a hard thing to do when you, yourself, had never felt pain before.
And she never once showed it. But she was scared. Terrified. Jessa was afraid that she was going to die that not. That she would never see her family again. But it wasn't like the girl could actually cry. Not really.
Jessa could never forget that night. Never. She remembered the pain that was put upon her. And for once, she was actually thankful for that she could not feel. And she had lost so much blood. She remembered the darkness coming to meet her. And at that point, she was scared that once she slipped into the darkness that she might never wake up. But then when she had, she was in the hospital, confused at first to were she was.
And now she was on strict orders not to exercise. Not to put any strain on her heart. And so, she tended to skip school several times. Today being one of them. And so the girl was up in her room, laying down, resting, when she had gotten the text. Grabbing her cell phone, Jessa opened the trust and read it. She sighed and quickly got up and got dressed. How was she going to get there? She couldn't ride her bike, or walk. Not at the risk of getting hurt. And besides, it was too far. So, she picked her phone back up and dialed Jason's number.
He had answered on the first ring. "Jessa? Are you okay?" He had been worried about his baby sister a lot lately. Ever since she was in the hospital.
Jessa sighed. "No, Jason. I'm fine. I got a text from Matt. He needs us there. Says its a family emergency. Can you come get me? But don't tell the parents. Just--please come here."
Jason nodded. "I'm on my way." he replied and hung up.
Megan hated this. She just hated having to use her crutches. And she hated not feeling safe anywhere. She did not feel safe at school. Or at home. She never even felt safe when alone anymore. And she hated living every moment of every day in fear. It stressed her out way to much.
Ever since that night, though, Megan hardly slept. She had constant nightmares. Nightmares that woke her up, screaming in terror, her face glistening with sweat. They felt so real. Very reall. It was like she was stuck...repeating that night...night after night...it felt never ending.
And today, after last night, she just could not seem to get out of bed. She just couldn't. So she had told her dad that she was not feeling well. Although, that would not have been too hard. She felt and looked horrible. Her skin was very pale. But that was from the nightmares that she kept reliving.
And even though she had spent the whole day so freaking tired...even though every part of her body just wanted her to go to sleep...she couldn't. Megan was just too scared to close her eyes. So she had layed down in her bed, all day, doing nothing but staring at the wall and holding on tightly to the bunny that Hannah had given her when she was in the hospital. She really did love it.
Then the knock came on her door and she jumped, scared at first. That was, until she heard her big brother's voice. And she calmed slightly. But she was still jumpy, paranoid. Slowly, Megan grabbed the crutches besides her bed and slowly got to her feet, still clutching tightly to her little bunny rabbit. She was almost like a child. That bunny had become like a security blanket.
Swallowing, Megan pulled herself to her feet and slowly made her way to the door, as to not fall. Which had really become a habit for her. It was never easy trying to walk on crutches. She made her way out into the hallway and towards the steps, staying quiet.
Hayleigh hadn't been home real long. She had gotten home about 5 minutes before Matt had and sat down at her desk, in her room, beginning her homework. But then she heard the knock and Matt's voice. She immediately walked out of her room and downstairs into the living room.

Matt watched Megan with a careful eye. When she came to the stairs, he walked to her and picked her up. "we dont have time to wait" he told her but it was obvious he was just teasing her. He set her on the couch and nodded to Hayleigh "sit down. Look, this is gonna be hard. But I'm getting this family back together. To do that, we'll have to tell about Jonathon" he sighed. He didn't want to, but his dad wouldn't be. "everything. Including dad. I have a plan, and Jessa should be on her way over, and Hannah's calling Chance and Aidan. Are you in?"
Hannah stepped outside when Chance picked up, so she could hear. "hey," she spoke softly. "listen, could you get Aidan and bring him to Jonathon's place? And-don't tell dad. Matt has a plan, but we need you guys." yeah, that was enough, right? She thought so. After all, Matt would be going into more detail, anyway. He was the one with the master plan. Hannah usually didn't take much stock in Matt's plans. They usually involved running away. And she knew from his own admittance that his plans rare worked. But this was different. He had thought it out. Jonathon was gone. And what could he do to make Ben go back this time? Her cat was dead, Voltaire was with Marco. He had no leverage. Besides, Marco was going to find out. He would make things better. Marco always made things better. Yeah, this time the plan would work. She just knew it

Without knowing the details, the phone call sounded a little strange. They had a plan? What kind of plan? If it had been a plan to kill Jonathan, he honestly didn't think he would be far behind that. Maybe he could find some strange chemical that wouldn't be detected in normal toxicity tests and load him up with it until his heart exploded... Okay, so hearts wouldn't explode because of chemicals, but it was a nice thought. Maybe just stop the heart, mess-free. But, honestly, he would want the guy to die more painful than that. And as his mind went on yet another tangent, he shook his head. It was probably something else, and what, he had no idea. But, when she said to bring Aidan, he didn't disagree, and instead, after a moment, agreed. "Sure, I can pick up the mini-mad hatter," he said, though he didn't have a car, so it complicated things.
"Give me about fifteen minutes and we'll be there, promise." He said, before hanging up the phone. He didn't even ask what the plan was yet. But, he figured he'd find out when he got there. For now, he dialled for another cab. This time it showed up in a timely manner and he managed to call Aidan on the way to the place, to pick him up. Luckily, he was there. Not that he expected him to be anywhere different. The kid was almost always home. It was as if he didn't leave. And he actually wondered if he didn't rarely go anywhere.
Aidan hadn't been busy at all when Chance called. In fact, he had been laying on his bed, listening to music blare over the speakers. When he heard his phone go off, he grabbed it and picked it up, only to hear Chance tell him he was going to swing by and pick him up. Blinking, he'd heard about Chance's lack of luck with his last car and wondered how he was pulling that one off.
"But, you don't have a car," he reminded him.
"There's such things as cabs, you know."
"Oh, god, you are a genius!" Aidan exclaimed, with fake enthusiasm, only to hear the line go dead. "Chance? Chance? Whatever." He hung up the phone and grabbed his shoes from the floor, quickly putting them on before rushing to the door to wait for Chance and his stupid cab, really not sure where he was going or why. But, he had nothing better to do.

Megan was thankful that Matt had helped her to get downstairs. She was already a clutz when using her crutches. Going down the stairs with them...was not exactly what you would call easy. When she was on the couch, she looked down at her hands in her lap as she listened to Matt talk. Tell? Everything? She wanted more than anything to get the two adults back together. But tell? That was not what she wanted. But really, Megan was used to staying off alone, not talking nowadays.
Hayleigh could not help but agree with that. If telling would help to get their parents back together, then she was all for it. "You can definetely count me in."
Jessa quickly got herself dressed and grabbed her purse, and ran downstairs to wait for Jason. "Aidan!" she walked up to stand next to him. "You waiting for someone?" she asked, just as Jason's car pulled up.
Jason got out of the car and walked up to the two, ruffling Jessa's hair. "Hey."

Matt looked at his sister. "Megan?" he asked her, folding his arms. "I need all of us completely in or all of us completely out. If this is gonna work, we all need to speak up. So before they get here, I need to know. Are you in?" he asked her. She couldn't just sit there and twiddle her fingers and not say a word. He needed her. He had thought this all the way out, and he needed each and every one of his siblings. Including Megan. If she wasn't willing to speak, then this was never going to work.
Hannah put her phone back in her pocket and went in the house. "They're on their way. Hey," she said to her sisters. She caught the tail end of Matt's little speech and nodded. "I'm in. All the way, no matter what it takes. Besides, what can Jonathon do when he's not even here?" she asked with a small smile. It was mostly for Megan, to reassure her that it would be ok. Looking at Matt, she spoke softly "where are the keys?"
"He leaves them in the bill holder that's on the side of the fridge when he's not here" he said and she nodded, going in the kitchen and grabbing them.

As Aidan stood by the door, he patted his back pocket where his phone was, to make sure that it was still there. He had his phone, his wallet, but something was missing. When his sister came down beside him, he nodded. "Yeah, Chance. I guess we're going somewhere," his older brother hadn't been specific enough about where they were going, only that he needed to be ready and at the door. "What about you?" He asked, though as soon as Jason pulled up, he remembered it. His iPod! "Hold that thought," he darted from the door, back up the stairs and into his room. The room was pretty unorganised. And the fifteen year old rushed around, lifting up clothes and papers, to try to find the missing music player. When he finally found it, however, he grabbed it and took off back down the stairs, only to trip on the last two, stumbling to the bottom floor and very nearly falling on his face, but he managed to catch himself and used the momentum to run back to the door to wait. Catching his breath from darting around and nearly tripping, he looked up, noticing Jason. "Oh, hi."
Just behind Jason, Chance arrived at the house and walked up to the group. Although he told the driver to wait, he heard him drive away as soon as he up to the house and groaned. Cab drivers were hopeless. So hopeless. Though, noticing Jason there, gathered with the other two, he had a thought. "Hey, you're not heading to Matt's big plan are you?" He asked. Since if he was, it made no sense to call another driver. He assumed that they were probably headed to the same place. And if not, he could convince him to go. Honestly, if Hannah and Matt wanted him and Aidan, he assumed the entire family, bar their parents were going to be there. Or at least, all of the siblings that were around. There were a lot of them, after all.

Megan bit down on her lip as she listened to Matt speak to her. She knew that she would have to help. She could not just sit there, all alone in her bedroom, and do nothing. Especially with Jonaqthon under this roof. She wanted her daddy back. She wanted their parents back together. Finally, she looked up at her brother and swallowed, but nodded none the less. "O-okay." she whispered. "I-I'm in."
Jason looked at his brother. "Yeah, we are. Come on, he said, not about to let his older brother take some lame cab. He got in the driver's seat, and got them there in record time. When they got there, he led his siblings to the door and knocked on the door. It was opened by Hayleigh. He looked at Matt curiously. "What's going on, Matt?"

Matt nodded and gave Megan an appreciative smile. Good, she was in. “Now comes the hard part,” he muttered. When the others got there, his eyes first rested on the oldest. “You were right. I should have listened to you. Sorry, man,” he gave him the apology that was long overdue. Chance had told him to tell, back when he thought it was just him. And he never did. And it had gotten way out of hand. To the others, he cleared his throat. He might not be the oldest, but he was taking charge, anyway. “You guys might wanna sit down. There's something that me, Megan, and Hayleigh have to tell you.” He told them, but then continued. He wasn't going to wait, because if he did then it would never happen. He was scared enough as it was. They weren't supposed to tell. Jonathon was going to be pissed. But Matt didn't care. They needed to do this, in order to get the family together again.
“Jonathon...he's a douche. He's been touching us.” he spoke softly, looking at the girls for a second. “At first, I thought I was the only one. But then we found out, it was all of us. And when we told him not to, he hit us. Dad found out, and he tried to leave him, but--” he swallowed, now looking at Hannah.
“Just tell them!” she snapped at him, “Spare my feelings. He killed Misty. Made all of them go back. And he's been smacking dad around ever since. That cover it?” she asked Matt, looking back at him.
“Yeah,” he said with a sigh. “Ok, so running away didn't work. Dad leaving didn't work. Especially when he's close to trying to kill himself again anyway. But you know what? Jonathon isn't here. And even if he was, he can pick us out one by one and beat us down, but there's no way he can stand against all eight of us. We are going to get our parents back together, and we're doing it today. I have a plan, but it takes all of us. Are you guys with us?” he asked, looking at Chance, Jason, Aidan, and finally Jessa.

Once there, Chance and Aidan sat down next to one another and listened to the group talk. Chance frowned at Matt as he finally confessed to what had been happening to the rest of them. He took a breath, but didn't add anything to it and at Matt's apology he only nodded to him. What he was doing was the right thing to do. Of course, hearing what had been going on was hard. Especially knowing how many it affected and how it'd turned into abuse towards their dad. And while Chance his his experiences, he didn't mention them. He only supported what they said and kept his own secret. It was better that way. They were kids, they should be open about it. Whereas he was an adult and had dealt with plenty before; he could handle it. Well, that's how he spun it anyway. There was uncomfortable shifting beside him and he nudged the younger boy with his shoulder, something that was almost playful and reassuring at the same time, to try to keep Aidan from becoming suddenly awkward. He hadn't known about any of it and judging by his brother's maturity and innocence that he managed to contain, he assumed it wasn't the smartest conversation to have in front of him. From a psychological standpoint, he didn't think that he would have the capability to honestly grasp at it nor did he think he necessarily needed to.
As Matt finished, Chance nodded. Although he had been silent about what was said, there was support in his gestures and posture. "We're like a miniature army," he replied, because they could take on one man if they were all together. Separate they were weaker. "If it's getting our dads back together, then of course I'm in. Just tell me what you need." He said, and Aidan nodded his agreement too. Neither one of them was going to disagree to that, because both wanted their dads back together. It was difficult enough having them apart the way that they were. By no means were either of them going to say different and if there was a plan, then why not give it a shot? It was better than just hoping they'd get some sense knocked in and would do it themselves.

Matt exhaled and chuckled a little bit when Chance said they were a mini army. It was true, though. "Ok," he said, smiling a little as he nodded to Hannah. "Keys?"
"Right here" she said, holding them up. Matt. Nodding, he added. "I need Hannah and Chance driving in different cars. So Hannah's going to take the keys to Jonathan's car, and Jason, if you'll let Chance borrow the car, that'd be great," he explained. His stomach was in knots, but he knew it was now or never. He bit his lip. He had never come up with a plan like this, but it had to work. It just had to.
"Aidan and Jessa, you guys are going to convince dads that Hayleigh's in the hospital and they have to go with you. Do not let them take their own car. Aidan, you're gonna take Ben, Jessa, you've got Marco. Chance, you're with Jessa, and Hannah, you're with Aidan. Once you have them in the car, get them to the beach. Megan, Jason, Hayleigh and I will be there waiting. That's the easy part."
And it was the easy part. The rest wouldn't be so easy. If they managed to pull this off without screwing up, it'd be a miracle. But Matt refused to think about what could go wrong. They were on a mission.
"Once they set foot in the sand, we're going to need to tackle them. We have to get them sitting down and tie them to the lawn chairs in the garage. It'll be hard, but if the boys take Ben and the girls take Marco, then it shouldn't be too hard. Megan, since you have to stay off your leg, you're in charge of tying them up once they're sitting. If we can get them tied down, then the rest is a piece of cake." Really, that would be the hardest part.
Picking up a rolled newspaper, Matt approached Aidan with it and held it out. "This is for you. Aidan, your job is going to be that they shut up and listen. The second one of them says anything unless he's asked to, you're going to hit him." Ben especially had a problem with not wanting to listen. The newspaper was a precaution, mostly for him. Hopefully, if he was smacked enough times, he would.
"Chance, you're up first. You're going to get into your psychology babble on what kind of affect separation of parents can have on kids. Once he has, guys, it's our turn to knock some sense into them. Megan, Hannah, you girls are going to go after Chance, talk about how what you went through was hard enough and you need both of them there. Jessa, talk about your birth parents. Make them see that we need both of them." And they really did. Even if some of them preferred one parent over the other, they really did need both of them there. This just wasn't working, having them separated.
"Hayleigh, you and I are going to have to go next, we have the hard part. We'll tell dad about Jonathan--including that he's hit dad. It sucks, I know, but we have to do it. And once we do, Jason? Tell dad about the suicide attempt." He thought it over, and he was pretty sure that was everything. They each had their own parts. After a pause, he looked back up. "Ok. That's it. Any questions?"

This was hard. Harder than the young girl had thought. Hayleigh had been through a lot ever since the dance. Hell, even before that with Jonathon around. It was just all too much for the 14-year-old to handle. But what else was she suppose to do? Hayleigh wanted out of this hell hole. She wanted her family back. She wanted her life back. She wanted things to go back to normal. But Hayleigh also knew that that would never be possible. To go back before it all happened. But at least things could maybe get better. If they all succeeded at getting the parents back together. That was all that anyone could ask for. With her mental condition, she needed a more steady arrangement. She could never even closely hope to get better if Jonathon stuck around in their lives.
Hayleigh looked at her other brothers and sisters, from youngest to oldest. Her eyes linger on her older sister. Her eyes lingered on Megan. This was going to be more difficult for her. She had already been through more abuse then everyone. From Matthew and their dad. Almost had been raped by Mr. Sawyer. Yeah, Hayleigh knew about that. By Jack. By the boy that she fell in love with. Yeah, love. Megan had confided in her baby sister. Telling her all about Jack. And about how she had never felt like that about a boy before. And then look what happened. Jack had completely broken her. More than anyone. Because Jack, he was the very first boy that she had fallen for. She crashed straight into love. And Jonathon? Hayleigh felt for her. And hoped that everything would be okay for her, too.
Looking back to Matt, she had determination shining in her eyes. Maybe the two hadn't been getting along. Maybe Matt hated her for what she had done to Shayne. But nothing could stop her from working together and saving whatever was left of this family. “Let's do it.” She replied, hopping with everything that this plan would work.
Jessa couldn't believe what had been going on in this house. If only she had decided to stay with Ben. Rather than going off to live with Marco. Maybe she could have helped. Have saved them. She could have taken the abuse. She could have. Jessa couldn't feel. So it's not like it would really matter. How could their father let this happen? How? These were his kids. These were suppose to be his babies.
”Jessa, talk about your birth parents. Make them see that we need both of them.”
Talk about her birth parents? She never wanted to tell anybody. Marco, he knew. But she never told Ben. Jessa already felt like he abandoned her. Maybe she felt that way because that was exactly what he had done. He abandoned her. That definitely would not be no easy task. It was hard for her to show how she really felt. It was hard for Jessa to open up. To anyone. With as many siblings as she had, it was very easy for the young girl to get lost in the background. But this was something that it looked like she had to do. Nodding in understandment, she looked over to Matt. “Whatever it takes.”
”Megan, Hannah, you girls are going to go after Chance, talk about how what you went through was hard enough and you need both of them there.”
It was true. Megan, she had a pretty hard life. All those years protecting her sister. Taking twice as much abuse, just to keep her baby sister safe. The things that she had actually done while in foster care. Never feeling safe once in her life. Never having a normal childhood. Never being safe. Never feeling safe. And after having Jack attack, she was more scared than she had ever been in her entire life. She needed her family back. She needed that safety back that she once had. She just felt scared all the time. She could never catch a break.
Placing a gentle hand on her stomach, Megan looked down. And what about this child? She needed the support of both of her parents. Ben knew. Even JJ knew. But nobody else knew. Not yet. But there was one thing that she hadn't told her father. One thing that she is so scared to actually say out loud. Jonathon. Jonathon's kid. She knew that partially, this was her father's fault. She brought them into his house. And Jonathon got her pregnant. “He needs to pay...” she whispered so quietly that it was almost audible. But she didn't mean for anyone to hear it. She just needed to tell herself. Sure, there was abortion. But for Megan? That just was not an option. Not ever. Megan was 100% against it. But she could not do adoption either. She hadn't told Ben yet. But she was planning on keeping this child. Maybe since it was her childhood, but she needed a child that would love her. “I got it.” She spoke softly.
Jason nodded. “Yeah. Sure, man.” He pulled the keys from his jacket pocket and handed them to him.

As the assignments were given out, neither Chance nor Aidan said anything. Instead, both of them nodded. Aidan busied himself listening, fiddling with the sleeve of his sweatshirt as he spoke. He wanted his parents back together, he really did. He missed all of his siblings and he missed his dad. It was okay with Marco, but even he worried about his dad. He wasn't the same, really. He just worked all of the time and seemed sadder, somehow. Not that he could be blamed, he was separated from his husband and half of his family. So, he wanted this just as badly as anyone. And as he was handed the newspaper, Aidan grinned. "I'll keep him quiet." He assured with an affirmative nod of his head. Oh, he'd make sure to keep him from interrupting. Okay, so Aidan was eager to hit Ben with a newspaper, but could you blame him? Could anyone really blame him too much? He didn't think so. And of course he would have a story to tell once they got to Ben. "All right, come on Hannah Banana, let's go." He said, hopping up, ready to go.
Chance took the keys from Jason with a nod. "Thanks." Now, he wished that he had his own car. But, that was long gone now, so it'd have to work. The plan made sense to him and he had remembered everything that was said and didn't need it repeated twice. Honestly, he didn't have any questions and was ready to get out of there as quickly as possible. He wanted this to be done too, just as he was sure that the rest of them did. "Come on, Jessa." He said.
And Aidan had already started to walk towards the door but suddenly stopped and looked back at Matt for a moment. He wasn't sure yet what to say to Ben, but he had a few ideas of what stories he could give that would force him to rush. "So, we can tell him anything, right?" He asked, for clarification. Though, to be honest, even if Matt had said no and gave him a strict script, he would have said anything that he wanted to, that was just how he was.

Matt nodded. "Yeah. Tell him anything you want, as long as you can get him in the car with you and Hannah." he repeated himself before heading to the garage to get the lawn chairs and the rope. Just like Chance and Aidan, he was ready to do this. He had been ready since he had formulated the plan. And now that they were about to put it in action, he was really ready.
Hannah went outside and started up Jonathan's car, waiting for her brother. She had to admit, she was nervous. She hadn't seen Ben since he kicked her out for being pregnant. But even she was ready for them to get back together. Fastening her seatbelt, she peered out, waiting for Aidan, since she had walked out while he was asking Matt a question. This time tomorrow, their family would be back the way it was...she hoped.
