She sat by the water, staring at the article. She read the words over and over. By now, everyone knew that Coach Brooks was gone. Nobody knew why. Well, the stupid clique knew why. It made Mallory mad. She wished Charlie was here; she would have the guts to fight Willow. Because anytime something happened in Abigail or Rachel's name, it was really Willow's doing. Mallory knew this. Did they know that he didn't just quit his job? That Uncle Jimmy actually left--left Rachel, left Jamie? Though, something told her that it was far from over. Jamie was still in Degrassi. That article could still come out. Mallory hoped it wouldn't, but it could happen.

She sniffed, taking off her glasses to wipe them off because they were getting fogged up. She wasn't in school, like she was supposed to be. She just wanted the day to herself. To relax by the lake. She picked up a stone, skipping it over the water. And as she did, she heard a soft splash. She looked over, and saw Megan. Her best friend. No matter what happened between them, she would always be Mallory's best friend. Mal just couldn't have her get hurt by Matthew. But now he was gone. She wasn't sure why, but it didn't matter.He was gone for good.

Mallory bit her lip, picking up the cooler that she had brought with her. Making her way over, she smiled. "Great minds think alike, huh?" she said, announcing her presence. She held up the cooler. "Want a soda?" As if nothing had ever happened. Well, nothing really did. And she hoped Megan wouldn't be furious with her.

Mallory blinked. Well, that was...unexpected. Walking closer, she sat beside her. "My mom showed up. She's alive, Megan." she bit her lip. "I guess we both have decisions to make, huh? Part of growing up, I guess." When did that happen? Mallory didn't remember growing past childhood. Suddenly, she was meeting a mother she never knew. And honestly, she wanted to piss her off. She wanted to go to her mom, and test her buttons until she either ran again or gave her a good spanking. At least then, Mallory would feel cared about.

She looked at her best friend and swallowed. "Is it Jack's?" She didn't know if Megan had slept with him or not. She knew they were pretty serious for a while. But had they slept together? Mallory hadn't slept with Aidan, herself. It would be six months right after prom, and she hadn't given it up to him. Which, she intended to ask Megan about as well.

"Of course" she said instantly, looking at her eagerly, waiting for her secret. When she told her, she paled. "Like Matthew. Right?" This was bad. Mallory had been trying to protect her. She shook her head. "I never wanted to leave you alone. He came back, Megan. I mean, he's gone now, but he was here again. And I just thought that if I ignored you, you would stay safe. I am so sorry. Forgive me?" She had asked what to do. Mallory swallowed "Honest? I think you need to leave who the father is out of it. Think about yourself. Are you ready for this? Cause if you're not, and I normally wouldn't suggest this, but...you don't have to be pregnant."

An abortion would normally be something that Mal was against. But, she thought that there were times when exceptions could be made. With a sigh, she looked at her. "What do you think I should do? About my mother, I mean. She just appeared out of nowhere. Does she deserve a chance? What if she runs at the first sign of trouble? She ran when I was born. And I'm a teenager, there's gonna be trouble. I can't help it, we're like, born for it or something."

"Megan, you're thinking about this all wrong. You're letting yourself believe that you don't have any choices. You have choices. I mean...I know, normally I would say that you can't do that and abortion is wrong. It's just...well, I think that when a girl finds herself in that situation, right and wrong can seem get pretty confusing. Plus, I mean, with everything else that's happened....It's what I would do. And I would go with you, you know. So you wouldn't be alone." A lot had changed about Mallory. Of course, some things would stay the same. She was still crazy over Megan's dork of a brother. He was her sun and moon, her whole universe. Without Aidan, she probably wouldn't be here. He gave her a reason to want to live, and she didn't think he even knew it. She had been pretty depressed before he came into her life at that dance, dressed as prince charming and asking her to date. She hadn't been able to believe that someone like him would ever like someone like her. But he did. And he made her life a hundred times better. But. a lot was different, too. Her views had changed. She now knew that there were some things that could never be okay, and some that could be considered under the right circumstances. And abortion was one of them. "What if you went to your other dad?"

As she listened to her, she bit her lip. "I have so many questions for her," she admitted. "But--I'm scared. What if I find out that I was just a mistake? That she never wanted me? I just don't think I could take that kind of rejection" she looked down. But, it did make sense to take a chance. "I'm so confused. About her and Aidan." Aidan. God, was this even a topic she should be bringing up to his sister? It was probably the worst subject in the universe. But, they were best friends. They were supposed to talk about everything. And this was nice. Just talking without any worries.
